does it have to be WWII? hell does it have to be a war the US fought? How about Korea? or the Algerian Revolt against France or the start of the Vietnam war with France fighting Uncle Ho?

@Coco_pierrot: i'm in total agreement. yahtzee talked about how AAA gaming has become a monochrome sludge, and i cannot help but agree. indies only cover so much of the gap left over. i mainly only play the old black isle games and medieval 2 total war on my laptop these days. i have zero interest in any of the new consoles, can't see how they have anything on a new midrange gaming pc. just kinda feels like the current and last generation just kinda left me behind. now with that said, i do still enjoy the few games i do play, and i value any time i get to play them.

the last generation the most fun i've had with a shooter (any shooter) was payday 2, but i rarely play it anymore. i'm hard put to distinguish anything really new in the fps genre. better graphics, same games.

skyrim, mainly because it has my favorite thing a video game can have: it drops me into a world and says "here is the framework of a story, now go do what thou wilt". the dragon age series i suppose i just never quite got into the same way, i think i'm just tired of the bioware RPG style. i really think inquisition got such high marks because folks were really just wanting to see bioware make a decent game again, but it was nowhere near KOTOR, Jade Empire, or BG2

No, I'm done with military shooters for now.

It's not a military shooter, it's a police and criminal shooter.

this lil blurb encasulates quite well a giant problem with police in the U.S.

as for myself, negative, i have no desire to try and win the war on drugs

Oddly enough, buying a physical copy of Empire: Total War at release was what completely turned me off from Steam for all time. It took about 3 weeks, but once I tried to play and I couldn't because steam couldn't connect, I was done.

Tl:dr------ if a physical disk needs steam to play, dont buy it. Simple as that.
