@aaronlav: Amen to that. I really think sites like this are fine for seeing gameplay or early footage or release details. But when it comes to impressions stick to a content creator that you trust on youtube. Even then some creators probably do an equivalent job of sharing pre-release info (your ACGs and Skill Ups for example).

@hardwenzen: So I'm a lazy guy and maybe I'm also a snowflake or whatever (though I don't use twitter). But I got to ask... Does GS actually mention the protagonist is a black woman or something? Cuz I literally ctrl F'd Black and African and got no hits in THIS review. Hell believe it or not this specific comment thread up to this comment is the only comment at this time that even discusses stuff like race. So I have to wonder who exactly are you responding to in terms of somebody putting out a review discussing race? It's not here that I can tell.

I know 100% its come up in stuff like Miles Morales game. Also fairly sure its come up in Polygon reviews... But like in this article. I don't see it anywhere.

As for the worst open world game around... Bruh I don't even think this is the worst high profile release among open world games... You remember no man's sky? Or hell Metal Gear Survive?

I'm not sure this holds a candle to those.

@nabinator: tattoo artist according to the article so likely runs a tattoo parlor. His clientele may dwindle somewhat...

@phili878: It's particularly disappointing to see Just Cause go the mobile route. The whole point of that series has been the scale of destruction achievable (and the bizarre physics) and the expectation has been we get more and more destruction with each entry. How are they possibly going to achieve that in a mobile entry?!

@skyhighgam3r: Was gutted to learn that Blood Omen 1 nor Soul Reaver 1 were getting remaster/remakes. I mean Defiance and arguably Soul Reaver 2 hold up pretty well even today. Defiance even feels a bit like a slower Devil May Cry with the juggling possibilities. But BO1, BO2, and SR1 would benefit a lot from a fresh coat of paint. BO2's environments still hold up but damn that combat was kind of clunky.

@Z_Buster:

I assure you I've used my brain. You're free to yell at the journalist I wasn't implying you could not. Just that it would accomplish nothing. In fact judging by how they continued to release articles on The Boys I'd hazard a guess that it has in fact accomplished nothing. When I offered my advice it wasn't meant to be prescriptive. Speaking up is great, but without the right platform and without leverage talk amounts to nothing.

Again I wouldn't call the level of spoilers depicted here a "serious" spoiler. The contents of the article certainly might spoil a great deal but you complained about a banner ad depicting a certain still shot from a certain scene... Correct? Articles like this do not generate much traffic in of themselves you're right about that but look at this way. We're both here having this discussion and gamespot will do whatever it takes to have as many visitors to any number of pages on its website. Moreover, there are definitely visitors who didn't comment and are probably laughing at this comment thread. Including how I've now responded to your comment from two weeks ago XD.

Note that I've never once belittled your intelligence in my earlier statements. I take issue with your stance but I've not attacked you as a person. If that's not using my brain I'm not sure what is. I know for a fact that siding with your argument isn't using my brain. It would be the equivalent of groupthink. All the same I hope you have a chance to enjoy season 2 (I thought it was great!) now that it is complete and that you've managed to avoid further spoilers.

Edit: I'd add that today GS reported on AOC's stream of Among Us. If this is not proof that GS's priorities have clearly shifted away from what you expect from games journalism I'm not quite sure what is.

@CashPrizes: Honestly that's the thing right? People have this knee jerk reaction with Epic being evil. But half the stuff that gets released on Epic is far from "feature complete". Maybe it doesn't have all the DLC/Fixes yet for example... It certainly won't have trading cards or achievements. Even with indie/AA titles releasing on other platforms this is definitely a consistent phenomenon. Like looking back at the launch of Endless Legend and that game's myriad issues I'm quite glad that I waited till it was at least halfway through its lifecycle before jumping on, and that was on Steam. I feel like news like this shouldn't even bother us anymore. There have always been multiple stores of questionable quality. There have always been scummy companies. But there's always been an inevitable steam release and since none of these titles are Epic exclusives you won't NEED to have the Epic account/launcher period. I'm looking at you Ubisoft with your "steam releases"...

Epic is effectively the early access of the PC platform at this point. We all lived through the period of terrible Steam early access. Arguably it's never ended. We all learned our lesson. Don't invest in Early Access unless you genuinely believe in a title. It's not unfair to say that the lesson is transferrable to all things Epic. I don't see this stuff as a betrayal at this point. We're used to ridiculous delays to enjoy a quality product. We're used to games releasing in a half-finished state. We know it's far better to wait and frankly if the Devs can milk Epic or any scummy company (guaranteed sales agreement with Epic store) for that matter I'm ok with it. I've got a massive backlog to churn through and I challenge you to find a PC gaming enthusiast who DOESN'T have a backlog of titles (owned or otherwise) that they've been meaning to get to.

@Bleys987: Any word on exactly why it's advantageous to do this? Surely they did the shooting ages ago and post production and editing can be done without contravening any regulations? Or is this a ploy to get people to not just take advantage of trial subscriptions to binge a series?

@Z_Buster: I don't think its the obligation of any entertainment media reporting organization to avoid discussing the most current content because of the need to avoid spoiling it. That's part of how they generate traffic and by extension revenue. You've literally done the worst possible thing by clicking on this article. Not only could you have exposed yourself to additional spoilers which don't have to do with just lamplighter but you also contributed to the traffic on the site. Traffic which helps validate the need for articles such as this.

If you're suggesting that the existence of this article's title and the accompanying still image are spoilers, well I'd say that a still image of a character's appearance hardly constitutes a major spoiler. You can see still banner images with other newly introduced characters for the Boys on any number of websites aside from this one. Moreover, I'm going to assume you're familiar with the first season... You'd at least know that the character was heavily foreshadowed by the series before his appearance in this season. It doesn't "ruin everything" though I'd concede it is a form of spoiler but a minor one at best.

There's a great deal more they could have spoiled here but they really didn't. The stuff they discussed is frankly peanuts compared to what's present in the show. If you're that sensitive to this issue I'd say support content creators elsewhere who report on the stuff you're interested in or just go to another website.

Yelling at some random journalist on the internet isn't going to make the "headlines" change on a particular website. Seriously anyone as committed as you are to avoiding spoilers (and I know a few people like yourself) would do better just avoiding any and all entertainment news until the time has come to enjoy a particular show.
