wars cause untold amounts of misery and death, and thus need a great deal of romanticizing to publicly justify.

buddy, humans have been in love with violence since they first crawled out of the cave. hell, humans have been in love with violence for millions of years of evolution before they could even be called humans. the only instinct more overpowering and deeply ingrained into the base code of every human mind than bloodlust is plain old lust. humans must eat other life to survive, and it doesnt do us any good to feel shame and regret over what is one of the most fundamentally important aspects of staying alive, so nature was kind enough to let us enjoy inflicting pain.

when the basic parameters of human survival dramatically shift and weve adapted to them for about 50,000 years or so, then we can talk about breaking our love of violence. until then.... its just not gonna happen. not in meat industries, not in wars, and sure as hell not in our entertainment. games arent doing anything we havent already been doing in every other aspect of our lives for millions of years, why you single them out as the one form of human expression that is somehow qualified to reverse this trend is beyond me. because its the one you work in, i guess.

@Ford_Cruller claiming that something almost universally reviled is great with no explanation is not denial at all.

@sonicare true enough, but bioware kind of created their own monster. they built up all kinds of hype about choices and 16 endings, they pandered to their creepy fanbase by making the raptor-alien and faceless suit romances... is it any wonder these obsessives went bananas over a bad ending? if bioware hadnt gone to such great lengths to trick people to keep their fan loyalty, this might be written off as just another crap ending, but thats not what happened.

@famekiller thats exactly my point, so give yourself the award for completely missing it. parents tell kids to appreciate what they have because throwing a fit will make them cave in and give them whatever they want. theres your first lesson in life: your parents werent trying to help you, they were trying to make living with you less intolerable. the idea that appreciating what you have will do anything but make you more exploitable is niave. just as niave as thinking adults dont throw just as many tantrums as children, their tantrums just influence politics and world economy.

you are not even close to getting at the heart of the argument. thats the kind of thing that happens when you DONT KNOW WHAT THE ARGUMENT IS ABOUT. finish the f**king game before commenting on the ending ohmygod why do i actually have to say that...

thats also completely missing the point. people arent upset the ending is bleak, their upset that they have no idea what the f**k is going on in any of the virtually identical endings. it is VERY VAGUELY implied the ending(s) is bleak, but it doesnt commit to anything so people like you can completely misinterpret complaints against it.
