@xantufrog: Reason why im mentioning TW3 is because it has pretty much everything, it has the soundtrack, story, voice acting, gameplay, and offcourse graphics & animation and all of this in a dense open world game with lots of, LOTS of stuff to do and on top of that CDPR pretty much defined how a modern open world game should implement the side quests without making it irrelevant and boring. Not often you see a game like that though so the person i responded to has some good points with his original post afterall, hopefully other open world developers can manage to bring their games up to those standards as well.

Gonna be interesting to see how Mass Effect Andromeda turns out and Read Dead Redemtion 2. After TW3 came out pretty much all open world games will be compared to that game. I agree with you, it has it's flaws, but man that game is impressive. For me it's a 10/10 game without a doubt and truly a state of the art game within it's own genre.

Favorite game of all time for me would have to be The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. That game nailed every aspect of a video game to perfection in my opinion and it was ahead of its time. Story, characters, music, world, atmosphere, great gameplay, beautiful ending...everything was performed top-notch for me. Sure I was 7 at the time so nostalgia plays a factor but games aren't made like they used to be. Today's games are great on graphics and gameplay, but soundtracks are boring, dlc is everywhere, characters are boring stiffs asking you to do things for them with not much care put in, I could go on and on about this...

Hope your not talking about The Witcher 3 when talking about todays games? :)

@lucidique: This is the Blue Burst version, i think it is 4 extra areas to play on compared to the first PSO game that released on Dreamcast. There is some sort of Xmas theme going on on the servers right now so you get extra XP and the monsters are dropping gifts fom time to time. Pretty cool

Phantasy Star Online! :) Awesome that you can actually play this game online again now in 2016 as the servers got shut down for about 14 years ago on the Sega Dreamcast but thanks to a dedicated fan we are able to play this marble of a game again on our PC on private servers. The community is live and well and i have been having a blast that little time i have played.

Here is the link to the site if you didn't know about it allready >> https://ephinea.pioneer2.net/

Im a lv 5 Ranger and i made exactly the same character and with the same name as i had for 14 years ago :) The nostalgia is strong in this one!

Here is a short video as well i just recorded if you wanna check it out, didn't have time to hook up my recording device so i just recorded the screen with my gopro cam

With naughty dogs game primarily being linnier do you think that there is any chance this game could end up being open world and still hold onto its great story?

Doubt that will ever happen and im glad Naughty Dog keeps making their games just the way they are making them today. Why fix what's not broken right?

Funny, i thought about this earlier today before i read this, i was thinking if anyone could do it, it would had to be EA making their own console but that would kinda suck if EA games became exclusive to EA consoles only and i don't think it would be popular for the wast majority of gamers out there. I would still stick to Sony though and idk maybe it would be a good thing with a new major player in the console market to keep Sony pushing out new exclusives and to keep them on their toes so they wont get lazy, on the other hand though it might hurt the console market more than making it better because with a new major player it means less income for Sony and less investements for developing high budget games.

I doubt we will see a new major player in the console market unless Microsoft/Xbox call it a quit

Yup Days Gone definetely, alltough the gameplay seems more fast paced and action oriented than The Last Of Us but the story is most likely top notch just like Tlou and Uncharted. Gonna be interesting to see how they tell the story in open world as it's harder to do than in a more streamlined game. The Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemtion are the only games i feel that has nailed it 100%.

Other triple A games to look forward to are God Of War and Horizon Zero Dawn

I don't need it but maybe other people need it, don't see the problem that Sony and MS are releasing an upgraded console
