First of all, you didn't clearly explain what type of games you prefer nor what type of gamer you are.
Consoles games and PC games are fundamentally different so you need to figure out what you like then move on, for example:
PC
- MOBAS
- MMORPGS
- Arena FPS (making a comeback now?)
- FPS (CSGO)
Consoles
At top of my head, those are the top multiplayer games each system provides. Hopefully you know the difference between fps on Consoles vs fps on PC. In long wrong, that simple fact matters. MOBAS-MMORPGS-Arena FPS take an extremely long time to get good at. With each patch involves a new learning curve, balance changes, exploits, new tactics, min/maxing etc. These games are not plug n play. Unless you are willing to dedicate the ABSURD AMOUNT OF TIME toward these multiplayer PC games your experience will be unpleasant and someone else can explain why.
Research cough homework PC gamers expect you to do:

If you scroll all the way down, he mentions how the full raid vid was valid despite it being recorded after balance changes. What he means is that commonly in PC gaming devs suck and always like to tweak their games. The result is crap balancing making certain classes obsolete or a previous weak class overpowered aka that entire guide I linked could've been obsolete after one patch.
Here is another example of a guide for an MORPG that is 27 fucking pages long.....
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T4uCWBAsJAGxds0juJxU60TGQe5fJCJHkYlKdO9nuJA/edit?pref=2&pli=1
and yes, this guide is incomplete
Conclusion:
Unless you got no life or a lot of free time on you hands don't do PC gaming for multiplayer.
