They are recruited over a period of time. You get them by completing missions, finishing months, finishing council missions, assigning satellites. Over time the number of recruits and scientists you have rises steadily.

I had written a blog post about a year ago when I installed Morrowind for the PC. MANY hours were put into perfecting my installation. Here I am about a year later, rewriting my original post. A lot of information was updated, and expanded upon. This is a very detailed "tutorial" of how to properly install Morrowind if you intend to use mods (or do any modding yourself. http://ninjakreborn.blogspot.com/2012/11/morrowind-modding-general.html The only thing missing from this post (which'll be edited in today or tomorrow) is details on my controller platform (Pinnacle Game Profiler). I'll be editing this post sometime tonight/tomorrow to include details about that....besides that, this post is done. Next i'm starting on a follow up post that'll be the second half of my installation. It'll describe all the modules that I download, how I download them and what steps were taken to make them "play nice" with each other. 'll be starting on that tonight or tomorrow and should wrap it up in a day or two.

I agree that Bathesda can call the game whatever they want, and it is way more important how the game plays. But just for the record, the cost of renaming it outside the US would be negligeable compared to all the other internationalisation costs (text translation, alternative voice tracks, even checking character gestures for offensive meaning in other countries!).

Bethesda didn't name it. This game was developed (100%) by a different company, not by Bethesda. All they did was "Publish" it. It was not developed, named, or created by Bethesday at all.

Your right about them being completely different games, but they are similar in a lot of respects as well. The developers themselves said that it was originally a 100% remake of the original game (better graphics). From there they added/removed a lot of stuff and tweaks it. But it started off as a replication of the original game. Also, across the board they did "something" right for it to get a 9.0+ across all major reviews for all major sites, and an even higher overall user review. Same thing with RNG...some people agree with the mechanic, and others don't. I remember the old original X-Com. That system worked very well. But perhaps they just wanted to try something new here. Even though it has some annoying parts to the functionality, again they had to do something really right to get those kind of reviews across the board. I have a few complaints (minor) about some of the game play elements but for the most part everything felt right to me.

Diminisher, I took your feedback into account and edited the original thread to make it sound better. I also added a few more tips. I'll be adding a lot more later as I think of them, and everything. If I can get this tip list big enough then i'll probably convert it into a GameFaqs FAQ and perhaps expand it into a full walk through. Just depends on how many tips I can think of to start with. The list is far too small right now.

Good points. What do you mean by loss though? I know it's a loss (because because you abandoned the mission). My tip was pointing out though about them all dying. If you abandon mission and they are not at the extraction point every single character on your team KIA. I guess they won't be if you get back to the extraction point, but I never specifically tried that.

It's very much like Shadow Run. The original one on the Sega. It was one of my favorite games. I heard they were coming out with another one. The shooter. So I played it. Ran into a corner and slammed my head into a wall. While the game itself was alright..it wasn't what I thought. Luckily, I heard they were releasing a "kickstarter" project for a remake of the original (sequel) and I hope that comes to past. I haven't checked up on it lately. But that's kind of what this feels like. The original X-Com came out and was awesome. Then I played the crap out of every X-Com ever made, including the "spiritual sequel (which was really good by the way)" but nothing ever came close to measuring up...until this. So much they did right, and so much more than can continue to do right if they continue heading in this direction. I can just smell a few large expansions that'll also enhance the original gameplay.

The more "choice" they give the better. I just hope that they continue on the right track. They have a really good "Potential" game here. One that really replicates the greatness (almost) of the first one. If they make the right decisions with patches, DLC, and continue building it then it could end up turning into one of the best games (of it's kind) for the entire century. I just hope they continue on the right design directions and keep making the right decisions.

From a roll playing stand point, definitely. A little hard for me during practical application. Although obviously it was like that the first half of the game. But when you get into really hard, late game missions...it's very hard to bring someone with "no" speciality to a mission and actually score a kill (due to bad accuracy, and other issues). So it depends on personal taste. I like the idea that you presented better, but found it hard to manage that when actually playing late in the game (20-25+ hours).
