I consider myself the definition of a hardcore gamer, and I still love Zelda, Metroid and some Mario, but I'm regretting my Wii-U purchase (not regretting 3DS though). They still make great games that I enjoy (the Zelda on 3DS has my interest), but it's certainly concerning that many of their hardcore franchises are no-risk, dummed down carbon copy sequels. I used to not mind (they were fun), but it's becoming harder and harder to defend them as the years go on. But like I said, I don't the 3DS.

As for PS4, I just hooked it up. Other than AC4, my PS3 will still get more gametime from me this year. Next year, that will change. But, crap launch line-ups don't really concern me anymore. In the case of Sony and Microsoft, it's a 99% safe bet that the games will get better and better as PS4 and XBone mature.

And in addition to what poypoy said, why would you want the PS3 cycle to end early? Technology will evolve regardless, so why end the generation early? All that would do, is equal more money for us to spend for a smaller graphical difference. This isn't the late 90s when game tech was evolving much faster. The fact that the wait is now 7 years, as you mentioned, actually proves your point wrong. I'm talking about console gaming btw, not PC gaming.

For those who weren't satisfied with the difference, just remember when PS3 came out, games looked terrible compared to PS3 now. It'll take a few years to reach it's potential.

Think of it this way with an analogy: PS4's level cap, not the level itself, changed from 50 to 100. But it will still take a while for PS4 to actually reach 100, therefore showing its true potential. Expect a 7 year grind.

You're faulting a game for having realistic characters? By that logic, "The Dark Knight" promotes gang violence, "The Sopranos" is sexist, "The Godfather" promotes mob rule, "Breaking Bad" promotes drug use, "Game of Thrones" is also sexist (I could go on). Are these bad movies and shows, or are they award winning because of the absolutely brilliant writing they have? Would it be better if the characters said "please," "thank you," and treated women as equals? Would that make the game realistic? No, that would be bad writing.

Although many people here are just using this as an excuse to be hateful because they don't know how to win an argument unless they use personal attacks, the core reason for their anger is valid.

@Dirk_McHardpeck That's definitely not the reason Blizzard used. The reason they used was that many sellers ask for your username, password and credit card information, which leads to your account being hijacked and / or your bank account being compromised.

People are NOT upset about games going digital, they are upset about the threat to AAA titles and the increase of micro transactions. FYI - most games that use this model, suck. Plus, a game that has never ending micro-transactions ensures that you never feel like you actually OWN your games, and the fact, you don't. I'd rather pay $100 for a game since I know I'd own it, than pay 10 cents every time I swing my sword, or a penny every-time I shoot a bullet. If you honestly don't understand why this would upset gamers, you really need to actually examine the situation and what it means.

I don't think people who are having knee-jerk reactions about a game that is close to a year away, realize all the legal back-and-forth that has to happen between Nintendo and the countless third parties that own the rights to other characters. Nintendo has mentioned this with the gamecube and wii smash games. It's why the only third party character you are seeing is Mega Man almost a year away from release. It's a cliche to say, but "it's business." It was the same with past smash games and it was the same with Playstation All-Stars. Take a breath and actually wait until 2014 before being so quick to judge something that is a year away.

@Tso11 All past Smash Bros games have never shown all the characters until closer to launch. Two reasons, first, they don't want to give everything away, and second (which most people don't realize with games like this, and both Nintendo and Sony have mentioned this) is all the legal back-and-forth that has to happen between Nintendo and the countless third parties that own the rights to all other characters. Playstation All Stars was the same.

So, instead of being so quick to judge, actually use logic and actually think about past releases, and how the announcements for those played out. Also think about how this game is about a year away from release.

@omar_q At least the author didn't mention that launch exclusives were the only factor in his decision.... oh.... And of course, launch exclusives are all that matters since both the PS4 and XONE have a 3 month lifespan before the next-next consoles including PS5 are announced in 2014.
