First of all is it worth it?

2nd of all I need help setting it up if so:

- My cable box/DVR has digital optical

- My xbox 360 has digital optical

- My Ps3 has digital optical

- My TV has digital optical

My sound system receiver only has 1 digital optical input

I do not see splitters that allow for 4 to 1 for digital optical. Please help me with this setup and thanks!

bought a new hdd, old master and old slave not working when plugged in as slaves. do i need to do anything to them? so far i just plugged them in. program files are viewable on the old master, but not the old documents (which is where i saved everything important), and nothing is showing up for the old slave

Using testdisk, I analyzed / wrote partitions to both slave harddrives, and restarted, and the files are still not there. Currently, I am using photorec to retrieve any files - however it looks like it's going to dig up about 100gb worth of files, and only

swehunt
Um you wrote a patition to the "full" slave disk. This is your problem then. -sorry. :( I've had the same basic problem sevral times, the windows you skripted the files on would perhaps have the only permission to use the files on the HDD, that particular windows install is the one you had formated. Instaled a new main HDD a few days ago i had to set my new Windows to have acsess to the files on the old drives.

hey i don't understand what you mean. i only analyzed and made the partition accessible via testdisk i did not use windows to delete or create a partition on the slave. what do you mean you installed a main hdd and had to set access to the old drive files...how do you do that???

test disk photorec found alot of stuff ( i haven't tried to upload all my songs yet bc photo rec also brought back a ton of trojans) but it did find all my photos and videos. however, it will take hours to sort through these 500,000 files and re-do my music collection assuming they're all there (need to be renamed one by one!).

again, harddrives are in good condition. installed os. plugged in old master and old slave both as slaves now. did not do anything to them via disk mgmt or partition or anything just plugged them in. they are recongnized via my computer as e and f. program files are all there on my old master. documents gone. nothing on old slave.

before i go thru all these files one by one i want to make sure there's not a better approach to this. i would imagine there's something i can do t othe old slave and all the files will come back. i jsut find it strange that it says 140gb are used however only 11gb are viewable...
