The problem isn't the games...the problem is the fact that the appetite for violent games EXISTS. They've gotten the cart before the horse...human nature is corrupt and loves violence; Therefore, change human nature and the problem disappears. Taking the games away from the people won't do any good, humanity will get their fix for bloodlust somehow.
The only reason publishers and developers are crying is because they want even more money. I say let them actually create more product to get more money...it's no different than the used automobile market.
"Homophobia"... a term often employed by those who sympathize with homosexuality and used against those who don't. It is in reality an overused term synonymous with unreasonable fear, which couldn't be father from the truth. Many people I know are disgusted by the practice of it, and that's reality. Fear isn't even part of the equation. Find another term IMO. As for whether or not "gays" are human, they are, and have the same rights as any other human. I extend them the same courtesies as any other person. Unlike "heterosexuals", however, homosexuals seem to define their entire existence around their sexual behavior...some would call it "hyper-focused". Whether or not I agree with their "orientation" is irrelevant...if it wasn't always so "in-your-face", many people would just let the subject rest for the most part. Now the bigger issue: IMO EA stepped over the line ages ago by introducing cartoon porn-lite into their games to spice things up...now they push even farther by throwing in homosexuality for the Mass Effect games all in the name of "diversity". Sorry EA, I won't be buying this one either.
