And... The Nintendo haters have come out in droves to gloat. All too typical. All too expected.

While I'm no longer a console gamer, I still wish Nintendo the best. If they can successfully bring their IPs to PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and/or Android, so be it. But sitting behind a keyboard dissing everything they do is simply trolling.

To quote Fred Durst, "Everybody's King Kong behind the keyboard."

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Okay. Confession time.

I also still own my old DS Lite, and play DS and GBA games on it once in a while.

Now my PC elitist friends can hurl tomatoes at me. :P

<< LINK REMOVED >> I know some thirty-something adult console gamers who're pretty level-headed, like my brother. Unfortunately, you couldn't tell by some of the XBL crowd. Being a PC gamer, I rarely encounter that type of prepubescent fascism on Steam. My brother, on the other hand, encounters it quite often on XBL.

What keeps some people, regardless of age, from going PC is the intimidating barrier to entry: learning how to guage system specs in relation to the games you want to purchase. It was daunting for me just 5 years ago, as I was driven from console gaming due to console makers' business practices during the 7th (PS3/360) gen. Today, I'm full blown PC with mostly DRM-free stuff in my library. Steam is the only DRM I even tolerate -and for very good reasons.

At the same time, I've seen people memorize every scrap of celeb gossip -down to the pimple on Lady GaGa's ass- but not even try to learn a handful of terms in regards to purchasing a decent PC. They can machinegun spit brand names, but not what the actual components do. So I can see both sides of the 'barrier-to-entry' issue.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I liked FFX quite a bit myself. However, FFXII and FFXIII just didn't do it for me. FFVII (PS1and PC via Steam) is still my fav in the series. And FFVI (GBA) still gets play on my DS Lite.

I've given up on waiting for Shenmue III. As much as I loved Shenmue on my old Dreamcast, Sega has waited way too long to announce the 3rd installment.

Agreed on GTA V coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It'd make Rockstar, Sony, Microsoft, and Steam a shit ton of money. Too much money to pass up an opportunity on.

We already have a "3DS Lite". It's called "2DS", which I'm contemplating getting.

Half-Life 3 has become one of the great nerd myths of contemporary Pop culture. If it comes to Steam? Great. If it never comes out? Life will go on.

<< LINK REMOVED >> The real issue is: Most people who have the original Fable (XBL or Steam) are happy with what we already have. This whole "HD remake" business is just another industry racket.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Agreed.

I'm cool with keeping my 6th gen (PS2/Xbox/Gamecube/Dreamcast) favs 6th gen. Many of which I now own the PC versions of via GOG (DRM-free), GamersGate (DRM-free), or Steam -which includes Fable.

I'm burnt out on seeing companies milk people for "HD remakes" of what they already own, and the console makers' attempts to racketeer folks via lack of backward compatibility. Hence my jump to PC gaming during the 7th (PS3/360) gen.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Agreed.

The issues you're talking about are what drove me toward the PC scene (mostly DRM-free).

<< LINK REMOVED >> 1. The lack of backward compatibility is why many gamers -like myself- ditched consoles over the past gen.

Your other suggestions I agree with.
