@FBohler I don't think "weak power" is the issue here. The Wii had 6th gen (PS2 era) graphics and the DS had 5th gen (N64/PS1 era) graphics and sold like hotcakes. Hell, smartphone games often have "dated" graphics and sell pretty good -partly due to affordability.

But that damn tablet gimmick... Yeah, that's what's sinking the Wii U.

I'm not sure if Nintendo should ditch making consoles and go full on publishing (like Sega did after the Dreamcast), but they should probably re-release their back catalog on other platforms.

Sega has done pretty good re-releasing their old Genesis and Dreamcast games via XBL, VC, PSN, PC, Android, and iOS.

@DinoBuster Agreed. As fun as Nidhogg looks, I still think Megabyte Punch is a better buy.

Nidhogg looks as frantic as Megabyte Punch. Me likes.

I'm cool with digital games. Being a PC gamer, digital is my default means of purchasing games -especially DRM-free stuff via GOG, GamersGate, Humble Store, DotEmu... DRM-free allows me to copy them to my external harddrive just in the off chance that a server or site no longer carries them.

Example: GOG removed XIII from their catalog due to a change in license. I still have it on my external harddrive, where I was able to copy it to my current laptop; Program Files/XIII/ (pin application to task bar)... Plays like a charm.

Back when I owned a PSP, I only owned 4 UMD games. Everything else was PSOne games via PSN.

I prefer digital because it REMOVES excuses for lack of backward compatibility. Steam is cool, but I prefer DRM-free because I can copy games my external harddrive. Online DRM is an absolute no-go though.

I'm a PC gamer myself, and I really don't get the hate for Steambox.

If they only want to game on PC -than just game on PC.

Those who want to game on Steambox can game on Steambox.

These elitist nerds feel threatened by things that aren't even aimed at them. It bespeaks their raging insecurities.

@jesot @minijeffro Agreed, to an extent.

Indies develop for Linux, but also release on GOG, GamersGate, etc...Steam is the biggest, but not the end-all-be-all. And the DRM-free crowd have been buying via GOG, GamersGate, Humble Store...

Honestly, I haven't been gaming much this month (January 2014). I moved to Los Angeles in late December 2013, and with the weather and people and interesting stuff to see and do...I'm just not indoors very much.

I've only had sporadic rounds of Left 4 Dead 2, Unreal Tournament, and Retro City Rampage.

My nieces got GTA V, and they're happy with it. I don't think they did any of the online stuff yet, but GTA excels as a single-player experience anyway.

The attacks on Carolyn were petty fucked up. While I don't agree with her letting her socio-political views shape reviews, insults and threats were uncalled for.
