What a shame. I just got back from getting my PS3 and I wanted to test out the online. Ah well. There is always tomorrow for that I suppose. I did get a lot of games so its not like I will be bored. :)

I too noticed this at E3 2009 and ironically enough I am actually going to be on my way shortly to pick up a ps3 myself. Here is the thing... You need to decide why you want it and then decide whether what you want is ultimately worth getting. I have an HDTV in my room that does not get cable, etc. but I figured getting the PS3 would give me access to purchasing and enjoying Blu-Ray for movies that I really like. I have also wanted to play LittleBigPlanet for ages, InFamous looks amazingly fun and Valkyria Chronicles (while that is going to be a minor annoyance to get off Amazon) looks like a beautiful strategy / RPG that should keep me busy. Since PSN is free I am not going to get stuck paying for two online services, I'm also eager, amusingly enough, to download some of the PS1 games that they are releasing (like Final Fantasy 7). Basically, you need to look at a game console purchase as Past, Present, Future. Past is what has come out. Present is what has been out recently or what will come out soon, and future is what the system has planned down the road. (Things like ModNation Racers, Heavy Rain, God of War III) Anyway, I hope I have been of assistance. :)

I'm not necessarily going to say that one is going to be better then the other since we will not know how the actual games will play yet. I will, however, say that one wil most likely DO better then the other from a business perspective. Most people are timid and bland and will get something with 10 times more ease if they have tried it before. Getting the next Modern Warfare game is likely going to be like going to a good quality hamburger joint and perhaps taking a chance by asking for bacon and extra pickles. My point? MW2 has a headstart as there are fans of the original who will already pre-intend to buy it.

MAG looks interesting and its large scale battles show promise. But there is also, as others have said, the chance for the game to fail horribly due to its sheer reliance on having enough gamers to actually play it. Its the new kid in school and it just walked up and decided to take the lunch money of said school's most notorious bully. What do you think is going to happen next? Either a) it is too big for its britches and it will get pounded or b) the bully (MW2 in this case) is about to be very, very hungry.

I think that if the game works as developers intended that it (being MAG) will do well. I do not think it is going to outsell MW2 though since that is being released on multiple consoles and to multitudes of fans who (thanks to ActiVision's tendancy to repeat itself) already know *exactly* what they are getting. Its issues like these that are driving nails into a coffin which -- if this issue is left unchecked -- will soon contain the very essence of innovation. And that will be bad for gaming as a whole.

Yes, Tales of Vesperia is ***Excellent***. Great story, great characters, great combat and great artwork (if you like the anime-styled art scheme at least, which I do). If it does come with a good amount of extra content I agree with the others who have said it might even be worth a RE-purchase even though I still have the 360 version. Its *that* good. Anyway, thought I would share my take on it since I have played the 360 version.

This game looks really interesting with all the different classes that you unlock and everything. Shooters are sort of a hit or miss thing for me but I have been considering whether to pick one up or not. Is this an insanely fast one like halo or is this more methodical and tactical like Rainbow Six Vegas? And what is this issue with the controls that is being talked about? Thanks.

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what multiplayer game(s) you would recommend to someone who is getting a system soon? I was looking at the list of things that I plan to buy and realized that they tend to be either single player or that the multiplayer would likely be more successful having already made friends via PSN. Since I will just be starting out (aside from my boyfriend and my best friend, who have somehow not purchased any multiplayer games; a fact which still confuses me) that is not going to work. I made this error when I first bought my xbox 360 and do not want to repeat it.

I tend to like most genres of gaming but the amount of 'skill' or 'talent' that I actually have at some types of games is not necessarily that high. (For instance even though I am not so hot at shooters I had lots of fun with Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas on the 360, whereas Halo 3 and Shadow Run did not go over so well). Basically looking to get a game that will encourage me to get involved on it online and make friends.

Anyway, hope this hasn't been asked 5,000 times in the past. Thanks for your time and thanks for reading. :)

Claudia Black is brilliant. She played Aeryn Sun on Farscape which may be the best sci-fi show ever created. I had no idea that she did a voice in this. Now -- even though this would not normally be my normal type of game -- I might just have to check it out. How interesting. :)

In two weeks I am going to purchase a PS3 and I thought I would come here to get some imput on different aspects of that purchase before I head off and actually buy anything.

1) 80gb or 160gb. Which is the better type to get? I am not terribly tech savvy but I am aware that you can upgrade the hard-drive on a PS3 to make more space if you need it. Is 80gb too small all-together? Is the 160gb a complete rip-off? How complicated is switching the HDD? Is doing that going to put my machine at risk?

2) Games I am interested in are LittleBigPlanet, InFAMOUS, Valkyria Chronicles and Folklore. I am sure there will be more that will grab my attention as time goes by. I tend to like RPGs, action and adventure, fighting, racing... Pretty much anything. I *do* play shooters occassionally but I am *terrible* at them so they are normally not the first thing I rush out to get for a new system.

3) Are there any accessories that I will need for my system? I already went ahead and got some new cables from Amazon for it so they will be here and ready when I bring it home. (Obviously I want my PS3 to be showing my stuff in HD) Are there any other accessories that I will need? (EyeToy, 2nd controller, blu-ray remote, headset, etc.)

4) Any recommendations on what I should download when I get my system? Is it wiser to get PSN cards or to use a credit card?

5) Is this a system that I am going to want to buy a warrenty for? (After fix three o Xbox 360 I am quite paranoid.)

6) Is there anything else that you think might be useful for me to know?

Thanks for your time. :)
