Wow, I am profoundly underwhelmed. DX10 seems impressive, but Vista seems like a facelift with a few new features only media center freaks would care about.

" Rex_barbu yeah, guys and there is a nother thing, I'am not sure I want to give up my "tuned" Win Xp for the "new" Vista! " Don't worry. It would be unwise to use Vista until it's been out (fully out) for a while. Unless MS turns over a HUGE new leaf, you don't want to be the haplass beta testers (read: first adopters) of a new MS OS. XP's security was about as robust as torn cheesecloth when it first came out... wait a 9 months to a year after Vista's full release. Given that, you have PLENTY of time to love your "tuned" machine.

I've got a very good computer, and I still think this is a fantastic article. I have friends who either cannot afford good hardware, or don't care to spend on a hobby that is not as important to them. For them, this is a great resource. Also, there is always the tendency for developers (or publishers) to push the limits of graphics and physics at the expense of gameplay, and frankly that's a favour to no one. I'll take a Warcraft over a Doom 3 any day.

The fact that it's not working with HUGE games like BF2 and Civ4 just tells me that MS is still clearly building compatability. They would be insane to release an OS that would not work with some of the most wildly popular games on the market today. Remember, this is a beta test of an OS, and DX version. I suspect that a combination of advances in Vista, and patches in the games themselves will solve most issues. Beyond that, it's a new OS, of course there will be issues, and they will work out over time. Just don't be the first to get the OS, wait until many of the bugs are worked out (like a sane person) and everything will be peachy keen. ;)
