Ok, I'm not really that technically saavy, but here's my question. I currently have this cpu: Intel Pentium 4 cpu 3.20ghz and I'm upgrading to a computer with this: intel core 2 duo processor e6750 2mb l2 cache, 2.66ghz, 1333 fsb. Now I'm pretty sure this one is faster than my current but I want to know how fast. Is this formula accurate: 2.66ghz x2 = 5.32ghz? I'm just curious before I sink all this money into a new comp.
My current rig is this:
(above mentioned cpu)
2 gb ram
300 gb hd
Geforce 6800 256mb card.
I'm upgrading to this:
(second above mentioned cpu)
4gb dual channel ddr sdram at 800mhz - 4 dimms
320 gb hd
768mb nvidia geforce 8800 gtx
ageia physics accelerator (no clue what's special about this as opposed to the above card)
also, this computer has a significantly larger monitor. It's a: ultrasharp widescreen 27 inch flat panel. I'm not sure if the size impacts the performance.
Thanks for the help guys and sorry for coming off as a complete idiot!
