@Dualmask : So,so true. This is one of the more sensible comments I have seen on here.To be honest...I don't even think I have ever seen a time in my life where analysts (and the gaming fanbase for that matter) predicted something that turned out like they said..in fact is usually turns out the exact opposite.Everyone swears up and down that the ps4 will be more powerful than wii-u because the ps3 was more powerful than wii...but this generation was the exception...the n64 was 'technically' more powerful than ps1,the gamecube was more powerful than the ps2...this is the only Sony console to date that is more powerful than the competition.
The head of Sony just stated they definitely will NOT be announcing ps4 this e3...which means if they announce it e3 2013 (which even then isn't a guarantee) that means the earliest case ps4 will be released is 2014.I don't know how gamespot can think it is legit or even matters that ''the 720 and ps4 have a leg up on wii-u'' when one hasn't been confirmed and the other has been flat out denied...
@Soothsayer42 : Price matters more than anything else..it matters more than games, hardware,or backwards compatibility, more so than graphics or ANYTHING else.It doesn't matter how excellent a system is if the pricing isn't right it will not sell.Ps3,3ds...both of which had (comparatively) dry sales until pricecuts which cause sales to go through the roof.If you sell a system for $800 you simply won't be selling it.Things other than price might ultimately be more important innovation-wise but the price has to be very good in order for a system to actually SELL well.
@fillup0 : That isn't necessarily true...we might see a slight improvement in graphics but there more than likely won't be too major a jump this generation. Not only that but upcoming now it won't necessarily mean the wii-u will be out of hardcore release range even if it does have slightly inferior graphics..when you think about it...there are maybe...5 games (if that)..that REALLY push the full limits of the ps3 and 360 to the breaking point..there isn't a major push by developers..so this means more than likely that most next gen games won't really push the system beyond what the currents can already do.There might be the exceptions like 'Crysis 3' or 'Battlefield 4' but most probably won't truly exceed the limits of wii-u.The wii-u might be a bit inferior to the nextbox and ps4 but certainly not enough to be outdated..more than likely only about the same difference between 360 and ps3 today.
@xgalacticax : In fact my bet would be that the results would be even worse...even in the what...30 minutes...we've heard about the wii-u from Nintendo it already has more openly considered ''hardcore'' games than the wii ever had.
To be quite honest...nothing is a safe bet yet..both Sony and MS have made AT LEAST settle comments about attempting to gain a casual audience...Sony only said a couple months ago that they were going to attempt to reach at a 'broader audience'..and microsoft is doing just about nothing but with kinect and a variety of other things..if you really look at what these companies are making and not 3rd parties you will see that over the past couple years for Microsoft we see..Gears of War and Fable but we also see a TON of ''casual'' kinect titles, way more than half of the first party titles are various play-forms of either kinect or avatar-games.And while Sony has only released a couple 'casual' move games they are implying a lot more appeal towards casual gaming (or at least partially) in the near future...it isn't a guarantee that graphics will even be upgraded enough to show a difference ..the main focus might be on new soft-ware/online capability.I just don't see what the effectiveness of this poll is..it would be much more useful once the systems have at least been officially announced...we're acting like it's e3 2013 or something when in reality we would have about as much knowledge about the ''720 and ps4'' 5 years ago.User's choice doesn't mean sales..if this same poll was taken this generation the statistics against the wii would probably be even worse (not too wild to say 5-10%)...yet it sold top this gen.
And this represents literally every one of the millions and millions of players out there? I can safely after the amount of time I've spent looking so many gamespot comments that if every gaming decision were up to the gamespot user-base we would only be playing Fps's and Skyrim right now. This poll is ,whether you like it or not,insignificant..because we don't even know that a ps4 or 720 ARE coming out within even the next 2 years..and we sure as hell don't know what will be in them (and the fact you would vote for any one over the other when we don't even know as much as a name shows bias on your own part) there is WAY too little even known about the wii-u yet (much less the others) to make a decision about which one to buy.And this far from 'proves' whichever system will sell more since this is only a small, small, microscopic fraction of the entire gaming community as a whole.
@Xyekenvort : ''- Exploration: The sky exploration is not as vast as it looks. There's floating islands with just one treasure chest and that's it...alot of potential exploration wasted. '' The floating islands also include an entire 'game show' island and another island with a sword game on it.Just to point that out...
To me...if Skyward Sword didn't deserve a 10..it shouldn't have gotten a 10...that isn't my problem about the review..There are other reviews (ie. G4's which gave a 4/5) that I thought were fair though they didn't necessarily 'praise' the game. But I just found A LOT wrong with Tom's review. Tom openly admitted to waggling, even though Nintendo made it clear plenty of times waggling would NOT work as well, yet he complains about the controls not working.Should I complain about the disc not working when I put it in the wrong way?Not to mention the 'predictable formula' demerit..because all other titles in the series haven't been of course...I've seen MUCH more difference in Storyline this time around than between other zelda titles.Instead of just playing the game and analyzing it as an entire package it is as though Tom is literally TRYING to find ways to bring down the score ''Right now from a quality standpoint it is at a 9,so let's see if we can count off some points because I wasn't totally shocked by the story.Mk,now let me waggle to consider it bad controls...7.5? Spot on!''.It is not as though Gamespot didn't know what they were doing when they put someone who admitted every LoZ title since Ocarina deserved a 7.5 to rate the next Zelda game..it was obviously meant to just drum up hype, regardless of how accurate the review actually is.
One of my favorite titles isn't quite the most epic of the Zelda Series...Spirit Tracks, sure it didn't have the massive scale but it pulled off something that no other ds game did for me..it made me want to play it as much as a console game. The system-based Calendar meant you could submit a prize card on Sunday and get the results back that next day...you could go through the stores and villages and see new items in each store, the world actually felt larger than most console Zelda's,when you first heard about 90% motion controls you got worried but it proved excellent gameplay and combat,so many amazing little details and side-quests from collecting stamps at each stop to finding bunnies for a 'frolicking farm'.I would probably have to say Skyward Sword is my all-time favorite though.
