@ronaldmcreagan: I have funny a feeling that, under the conditions you've set out, you'll never own a Switch. Having said this, the Switch probably does have the technological capability to run the Galaxy series, the Wii version of Twilight Princess and also Skyward Sword (all, of course, heavily reliant on the Wii-mote and Nunchuck.)

It's easy to see why a HD version of Windwaker was created, and I can imagine it running on the Switch. Also, there could be a lot of demand for HD remastered versions of both Galaxy games, especially if Nintendo could overcome some of the previous annoyances inherent in the Wii-mote's limitations.

I just really don't see any need for Switch versions of Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess. I don't feel that either of these titles have aged very well (despite the latter's HD make-over), and they aren't marquee titles in the same way that the Windwaker and Galaxy games are.

Interesting list. For me, I'd remove Dragon Ball Fighter and add Media Molecule's Dreams instead.

Happy New Year everyone!

I've always ummed-and-ahhhed about playing Skyrim. Now the reviews are in, and the port is a sound one, I think I'll check it out.

I'm late to the party with the SW;BF party, and I was hoping this latest incarnation would be a good enticement for me to play. Like some others, I'm pretty disappointed that the game seems to have got as much wrong as this review states.

I'm usually really excited at the prospect of a new console coming out. I guess it's the realisation that I'm about as far away from the Xbox One X target market as it is possible to be. So news of a "free game" isn't really going to pull in the outliers, as far I can see. The lure of a gazillion teraflops and uber-high fidelity resolution is rendered a bit meaningless when you just can't get frothed up about the upcoming new and improved Forza, Zoo Tycoon or Disneyland Adventures. It's weird that there isn't one Xbox One (and beyond) exclusive title that I would choose to own. I don't think I'll be the only one who will hold back a while until the next true console refresh, whilst enjoying the much better range (and more importantly, quality) of games available from Sony and Nintendo.

@shadowpandora: That's interesting. It makes one wonder what the prognosis will be over the next twelve months for the console. This article explains in a straightforward manner why sales might be worrying for Microsoft: http://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/gaming/850203/Xbox-One-X-update-BAD-news-pre-order-for-release-date

@7tizz: If you can't see what the problem was with your response, I'm not about to waste any more of my time telling you. I just need to glance at your comment history to see that you've got strong form being a jerk for no good reason. I'm not even the first person in this one thread to pull you up on being unnecessarily unpleasant. If that's what floats your boat, then go for it.

Don't bother responding because I won't be reading it.

Cheers.

@7tizz: My apologies. I posted it to the wrong part of the thread. Still, it says quite a lot that you feel the need to resort to condescension and sarcasm in your reply, despite the fact there was nothing uncivil in my comment.

Thanks.

@7tizz: I have to work from home for health reasons, and so most of my disposable income has been spent on gaming. I don't eat out, don't go clubbing and my rent is very low. This explains why I've "collected" all the major home and portable consoles from the GBA/PS2/Gamecube onwards, except for the Xbox 1 (this was partly due to the abandonment of Fable and a lack of games I enjoy (action adventure, kooky Japanese titles and RPG, which, for me, the Microsoft console really wasn't offering.)

What I've learnt from collecting these consoles is something that many other people have known for twenty five years or more: games sell systems, not the other way around. As pieces of technology, I loved both the Sony PSP and the PS Vita, for example, but neither of them had anything other than a modest handful of good or great games. I guess the "system seller" on the PS Vita for me was Littlebigplanet, but even so, it was still really disappointing to have almost no other games of note to play on the Vita, especially having had a slight burn with the same problem present on the PSP. If a system can give you both features that you want, and wonderful games too - then that's the holy grail. The thing is - not everyone has the same vision of a holy grail.

I get a bit vexed by this constant mithering and carping about different systems, simply because all competition is a good thing and is to be welcomed - not only by other system developers, but by the owners of those other systems. We all know that competition encourages ambition, creativity and it generally sharpens everyone up who are involved in developing consoles and games. I can understand to a point that the retort to this might "well I'm just defending my corner" but then that suggests insecurity that a system a person doesn't want or need is doing well and succeeding.

Of course there are complete lame ducks (almost everyone views the Wii U as one of those, apart from, it seems, people like me), but generally all the main competing console developers are bringing something good to the table, and something to suit a variation of needs and desires. It's also possible to like more than one thing at once. I don't feel disloyal by saying I love the PS4 and games like Overwatch or Uncharted 4 on it and that I also love the Switch and playing Mario or Zelda. Diversity of this nature surely benefits all of us?
