@rued2k6 -- Wow, I can't imagine EA ever ditching the NCAA Football series. The sports seems to be too ingrained in the culture (much moreso than college hoops, which only really becomes a big deal for most towards the end of the season and into March Madness). I personally would never choose Madden over NCAA Football-- of course, maybe it's because I'm from the south, where college football is religion and the NFL is just a pleasant thing to watch on Sundays... ;)
@lance_7 -- Great points all around. As for the Draft Combine, I loved it in theory, but didn't love it in execution, mainly due to chuggy gameplay on the court. I don't know how NBA 2K10 Draft Combine sold, as we don't have sales numbers on downloadable games. I suppose if there's a sequel this year, we'll know it did well. Working off your idea, EA might find success by making NCAA Basketball a download-only title in the future. Release it at the same time as Draft Combine and focus on the single player *college* experience. Include the basic engine, a few gameplay modes, online play, and the ability to bring your guy into NBA Live. Sell it for $10-15 and release it a month before NBA Live hits, and see what happens. Maybe next year?
While I'm happy for the Saints and their Super Bowl win, towards the end of the game I was actually hoping for the Colts to pull it out, if only because I think it would have been great for Jared Allen's chances on the cover of Madden 11.
After all, had the Saints lost and Reggie Wayne continued to be absent from the game as he was most of the night, both Drew and Reggie would have taken huge voting hits. After all, who would have vote for a Super Bowl loser in Brees or a guy like Wayne who basically disappeared in the big game? That would have clearly opened the doors up to Allen who absolutely deserves the cover for reasons I've discussed elswhere.
As it turned out, however, I don't see there's any way that Brees doesn't win this thing running away.
@DevilD2005 -- Read closer. I actually did ask the career length question, but it wasn't really answered. They'll be talking more about career mode in the future so I'm sure we'll get the answers soon.
@VIRGIN_ISLANDER -- From what I've read in the various interviews with Wang, it sounds like the direction of last year's Live wasn't a big success internally. Sounds like they might be going in a different direction this year.
