I'm really excited about this game, and it looks like it won't disappoint. My only issue with it is that I'm not planning to buy a PS4 anytime soon.

False marketing can be a grey area. Wouldn't EA's failure to keep their servers online at the launch of SimCity and rendering the game unplayable be considered false marketing?

Yes, they CHOSE to add an offline mode, they CHOSE to take responsibility for their bad decisions. That's a good thing, but a lot of other companies would just ignore feedback and get away with it.

Total War: Rome II shipped with game breaking bugs and they really took their time fixing them, but they at least did.

Batman Arkam Origins shipped with game breaking bugs and various other bugs, they on the other hand decided to focus on DLC instead of fixing bugs.

I understand not liking a game because it's not to your taste, but paying full price for a poor or unfinished product off the bat is the issue here.

@alioli @mav_destroyer Sucks for all the people that pre-ordered shoddy products then doesn't it? They're stuck with it.

The market can work whatever way it should, that doesn't necessarily contradict that people who buy a full price product receive the proper value for their money.

@Lhomity @mav_destroyer @alioli Criticism and feedback are great tools no doubt, but they can only be used after the damage has been done.

As for delivering, there are cases where developers and/or publishers did feel the heat. It went beyond just feedback and criticism. They had to step up and take responsibility.

For example Bioware faced lawsuits and added extra content to Mass Effect 3 after the game was released.

War Z was taken off Steam and a refund was offered to those who wanted take it.

Another game flopped so bad it was canceled AFTER it was released: http://kotaku.com/the-game-so-bad-it-was-cancelled-after-release-1473325329

EA had to implement an offline mode to SimCity after the mess at it's launch.

I'm not saying every mediocre game should be banned, what I'm trying to say is game companies should take responsibility when they get sloppy or at least should think twice before releasing an incomplete product.

@Gelugon_baat @mav_destroyer My opinion is just that. I can't invoke or create laws but just suggest. I feel lots of people, not just in the games industry, are getting screwed, am I wrong to wish for some sort of mechanism to protect them?

@alioli @mav_destroyer No.

What I mean is companies that make a product, and KNOW their product is shit, but still release it at full price. They should be held accountable for failing to deliver what they promised to deliver.

I never said anyone will get a say in what gets made or how it will be made. I'm talking about the final finished product.

We need a sort of consumer protection law that prevents companies from released half assed products like this.
