@Donut0389: Congratulations on your obviously impeccable reading comprehension, if not outright stupendous opinion projection tactics. Really, well done.
Suffice it to say I didn't pay $60 for the game thanks to the Origin Premier subscription, so even if Anthem turned into a steaming pile of crap and they shut the servers down, I'm not out any money whatsoever. In fact I've saved money, and can happily go on and play the other titles in the Premier catalog that I've added to my library. As for my unpopular optimism for Anthem, I've been there for great games as service titles that get turned to crap over the course of their lifetime, so why can I not believe that a game can run the opposite way? Like I said, the industry is NOT going to change their habits to launch games prematurely - not so long as there are shareholders to satisfy with profit deadlines. Wishing for a development studio's demise won't change it (publishers will close them and get another one easy enough). So that's why I've changed my mindset to the simplistic of all for the hobby in which I've personally invested thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of my own money into over my lifetime. I'm in it for the fun, and I'm having fun with Anthem despite it's flaws.
Regardless, I thankfully don't have to justify my enjoyment of a game that has clearly been in the hater camp's rifle sights since Day 1 due to the publisher. I'm having fun with Anthem, and that's all that matters to me.
I expected as much, though to be honest the game's shortcomings haven't held be back from having fun with it. I'm still having a blast launching in with friends, blasting through Bastion's enemies, hearing that "ka-ching!" of combo hits going off, and enjoying exploring the world. Will that last? Probably not. However I'm still having fun, and to me that's the point I'm taking in 2019 - because we all know, deep down, that the industry's mindset and business models aren't going to change. So if they're not going to change, then I'm going back to the very basics of gaming - just having fun. No expectations, no "OMG THIS ISN'T THEY TYPE OF GAME THIS DEVELOPER SHOULD BE MAKING!!!" declarations, and no real let-downs based on overthinking or "demanding" of a game. I'm also not going to be one of those douche canoes who wishes for the death of developer just because the game they wanted to like turned out to be a different flavor. That's just petty, cruel, and pathetic.
That Anthem is an evolving game means that the game today isn't going to be the game 6 months from now, so I'll play for now and move on when it gets boring, then come back when something new comes out. I have no backlog of games to play. In the meantime, I'll play Anthem and enjoy it for what it is instead of what I'd hoped it to be. I'll support Bioware to the end, because they've always been able to provide me with at least a few hours (mostly many, many, many more) of fun.
Why do we now boil these films down to an "all-x-gender" film? Is this how petty we are as a society now? Is this how equality works? The sad fact that the 2016 film was marketed that way was bad enough. Last I checked the upcoming film has a pretty equal ration of male and female leads anyway.
I already have Steam, Battle.net, Origin, the Windows Store, and Uplay installed and running on my system. I don't need another !%@'ing gaming service program cluttering my PC.
Between this and all the DLC/Microtransaction crap being shoved down our throats, as well has the legitimately half-assed "AAA" big budget titles that fall face first in terms of quality, I'm really, really disliking the gaming industry.
I wish any of this Fallout 76 stuff actually interested me, but in all honesty, I'm only here for the comments and to see how this experiment of theirs turns out.
