This strategy makes perfect sense. Valve has dedicated fans and is rewarding those who itch bad enough for this game to preorder it. It will also cater to the super competitive (the CS crowd the game is marketed toward), who will want every advantage those 5 days will afford them.

M$ is excited about the AoE IP? Why the f**k did they close Ensemble for then? In any case, I hope the new, independant studio will do well. They better make something better than hellgate london, thats all I've got to say.

I can't believe they thought PC gamers would pay for that in the first place. Didn't they learn anything from the Halo2/DirectX 10/vista debacle. I just feel sorry for the XBox players who now have to pay for a service that is free elsewhere. I have to say though, it is complete BS that they are tying DX 11 to the next windows release. Greedy bastards.

Halo 3 hands down. So overhyped. All those TV spots, they money they spent on those models. It was a mediocre sequel that M$ wanted to boost 360 sales. Halo 1 is what put the og XBox on the map. Halo 3 needed to do that for the 360.

Another horrible copyrite protection system gone horribly wrong.

The mass effect forums are on fire right now and people from marketing on there trying to chill people out.

What a load of bull. Nobody bought Crysis because it pushes the tech limit so much (or at least was marketed as such) that nobody thought their rig could run it decently. Just look at the benchmarks with top notch hardware pulling 15 frames per second.

Movies and music have enforcable rating systems, and so they can make what they want as long as it is rated accordingly. Why can't the gaming industry do the same? The Jack Thompsons of the world would then be our of work.
