There's one significant problem with this, and it's that the second movie didn't have an ending! So, there's inevitably going to be a third movie. I can understand producing a collector's edition for each movie individually, but I don't get bundling them together. Whoever buys this will have a mismatched set, or their collector's edition will be obsolete when the third movie inevitably comes out.

Nobody is asking for a Rey Palpatine film. Nobody.

If I had any faith in Disney producing a competent Star Wars film, I'd say that I want the story set in-between episodes 3 and 4 where Vader hunts down the remaining jedi.

Or, possibly better yet, make the "Legends" stories canon. A Bane movie or TV series would be absolutely incredible.

What do these two examples have in common? They both have a strong "villain" at its core. One of the biggest issues with Star Wars right now is that the antagonists aren't compelling. The dark side is a joke. There is no "true power of the dark side." They are completely incompetent and powerless.

Why did movies like Avengers Infinity War, Dune, the Dark Knight, the Matrix, and, of course, the original Star Wars trilogy all work so well? Well, in large part because their villains raised the stakes and gave you a compelling reason to watch the conflict play out.

Zack, come on. I find it hard to believe you don't see "what would warrant" the criticism. I agree that you and the movie don't deserve vitriolic hate, but Rebel Moon is an objectively bad movie that, in my opinion, ranks notably lower than Sucker Punch.

The plot is bare bones and largely just revolves around recruiting a team of heroes. Given the runtime and how many heroes there are, there is absolutely no character development whatsoever. Your signature adult, gritty tone is missing as you've watered this down to meet a PG-13 rating, which severely diminished the action scenes. The villain is cheesy and tough to watch, with one of the worst final battle sequences I've seen in a long time. Your copious use of slow motion is often completely useless and unwarranted. I genuinely have nothing positive to say about the movie other than it wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, and some of the scenery is visually appealing.

I'm a huge fan of nearly all of Snyder's films, but there's a consistent trend to them. The theatrical version is always inferior to the director's cut. Justice League, Watchmen, and Batman vs Superman are exponentially better in their director's cut versions. So much so that I scratch my head wondering why the theatrical cuts were ever released. I consistently feel like, if you just let Snyder do his thing, removing any and all shackles, he will produce highly entertaining content. However, the moment those shackles are attached, you get generally very poor films.

I'm not 100% convinced the director's cut of Rebel Moon will solve the issues I had with the film, but I am more optimistic than not given his track record.

I'll jump back in when they eliminate about half the loading screens, add interstellar travel a la No Man's Sky, and add planetary vehicles. Until then, I just really don't have much interest in jumping back into Starfield. Oh, and a 60fps mode for Xbox X would certainly help too.

This is genuinely one of the most cringeworthy ads I've ever seen. We make fun of it every single time we go to AMC. I'm just glad they're finally moving to another ad, doesn't matter to me if Nicole Kidman is in it or not. It was the script of the ad that was utter garbage.

She says, "We need that--that indescribable feeling when" and then immediately proceeds to describe the indescribable feeling, "when the lights go dim, and we go somewhere we've never been before, not just entertained but somehow reborn...together."

Yeah...ok. No.

For their sake, I sure hope season 2 is a significant improvement.

For starters, I'd love for Villenueve to continue to produce Dune movies. Sci-fi needs this level of quality and scale right now. That said, he keeps saying that Messiah ends Paul's story. Well, mild spoiler warning, but it really doesn't.

@loveblanket: I came to say exactly this! They're blaming a strawman--"the industry." But wait, "the industry" has never been bigger. So, what they really mean to say is that "the industry" is more competitive than ever as more players fight to take a slice of the pie, and their games underdelivered, necessitating a layoff.

But why point the finger at yourself--your own marketing, social politics, gameplay, sales, overhead, etc--when you can just make up a bad guy--"the industry?" I'm not saying their failing at all of those things, but I am saying that, if you're cutting employees in the video game industry right now, it's likely your own fault for one reason or another.

If I had to hypothesize what the issue is with Deck Nine, I'd guess that they paid a decent penny to acquire the rights to the Expanse and then it failed to sell as well as they would've liked.

That said, I think a lot of people discount the value of strong leadership. The idea that "if a company CEA goes missing, products still get made" is true but only if you take it literally. For example, the University of Alabama will continue to play football games. However, without Saban, I'm not convinced that they will win conference titles and national championships. We saw this when Alan Mulally stepped down from Ford and when Steve Jobs past away. Ford is on the brink of bankruptcy again, and Apple has lost a lot of its innovation. People like to ridicule CEO's because of the money they make, but it's often the CEO that makes or breaks a company.

As big name directors like Ridley Scott, Martin Scorcese, Quentin Tarantino, Stephen Spielberg, Michael Mann, and tons more slowly exit the scene, Villenueve is shaping up to be one of the only newish directors that is capable of filling their void. His pedigree thus far is excellent. For me personally, he's up there with Christopher Nolan as one of the few that can actually carry the torch. Sure, there are other good directors, but very few of those directors are producing movies of this magnitude and this level of quality. Villenueve has been seriously on point since Sicario (though, you could argue Prisoners) with no sign of letting up. It's a great win for film. And for what it's worth, I'd say Sicario, Arrival, Dune, and Bladerunner are all slightly underrated. I'd give them all an 85/100 or higher.
