I've Got A PS3!

Hey guys, I'm finally back with a blog that doesn't have to do with jokes or certain other things. For this blog, it's kinda a big thing since I've finally taken the next step when it comes to video games, I finally gathered up the money necessary for a PS3 and bought one! I know I should have said something about it earlier, but I've been having some much fun with my PS3 that I almost forgot about making a blog for it. :P

I bought it last weekend and so far it's much better than the Xbox 360, sure there a few minor problems with PSN, but I can overlook those for a great console experience and with Mortal Kombat as one of my games I'm going to add soon, it's going to make it even more awesome, but to do so, I'm going to need some more friends on PSN, so feel free to add me. :)

Also I'm finally getting my spring break next week, so that means I'll get sometime to catch up in a few games and if you don't believe me about getting a PS3, here's a picture of it along with the games I own right now:

Looking forward to seeing everyone on PSN! :D

Super Robotnik Land

After much research on my end, I have found evidence of Nintendo and Sega actually working together on a game for the Gameboy back in the early 90s, I know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth! At the time Sega had come out with their Game Gear and the Gameboy was thoroughly trashing the Game Gear, so feeling bad, Nintendo decided to be nice and helped out Sega make a game for the Gameboy entitled Super Robotnik Land. In the game you take the role of Robotnik as he travels throughout a world much like Super Mario Land 2 and battles the evil of Sonic and his cohorts using his mighty pingas as a weapon.

Unfortunately the game was scrapped midway through development because Nintendo and Sega couldn't agree on where to take the game and their rivalry with each other got the best of each other. Until now the game hasn't been heard from for years, but thanks to some snooping, a game developer was able to find the code for the game and posted a video of what he found:

Recent Purchases: Whoa Nelly!

It's been over two months since my last recent purchases blog and I've got to say within the last two months I've bought some great stuff, so without further ado let's get into what I purchased for February and March.

Sonic #223 and #224

For those of you that know me pretty well, I can never go a blog without mentioning the Sonic The Hedgehog comics since it's one of the only comics that I read monthly and I can definitely say that #223 and #224 do not disappoint as brings back some old villains and I can't wait to see what Archie has in store for Sonic in the upcoming issues.

Halo First Strike

After reading The Fall Of Reach, I was interested in more of the Halo novels and decided to pick up First Strike which is suppose to bridge the gap between Halo and Halo 2. I've got to say I was quite impressed with the novel, Eric Nylund definitely knows his Halo universe and the novel fits well within the games canon, recommend it to anyone who's a fan of the series.

Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik

One of my favorite albums from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I use to have the tape version of the album and wore the hell out of it because of how much I played it, I never got around to getting a new version of the album because I had it bought from the iTunes store, but I saw it for cheap and decided to buy it since it never hurts to have too many copies of a great thing. :P

Mortal Kombat Kollector's Edition

Originally I was just going to buy the regular edition of Mortal Kombat, but since my Xbox 360 went out, I decided to switch my pre-order up to the kollector's edition which includes some nice extras and the PS3 version since I'll be getting a PS3 by the end of April. :D

I'm not usually one to buy a lot of anime since I'm very picky about what I like, but I heard a lot of great things about Beck and decided to check it out, I watched one episode of the series and immediately I was hooked, I decided to buy the series since it's hard to find online and I can definitely recommend it to anyone that enjoys music.

Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker

The last thing on my list of things that I bought was Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker, it's probably one of the best animated Batman films out there besides Mask Of The Phantasm, but it's definitely a lot more mature and darker since I got the PG-13 version of the film which features some content that was cut from the original airing. I definitely recommend it to fans of Batman Beyond and Batman in general. ;)

Well, there you have it for recent purchases once again, I'll see you on the boards and unions everyone! :D

A Friend In Need

You know how they say that time can heal wounds right? I've actually had that happen to me in the past week as I've had something comeback from the past that's surprised me. Now if anyone remembers from last June, I had talked about a friend of mine that had betrayed me in more than a few ways, but as of last week we're friends once again. It's rather interesting what happened to him. Basically his girlfriend and him had a pretty big argument which resulted in her moving out with the kid which left him heartbroken and he wanted me to come over so he could explain to me what happened.

So I went over to his house and listened to how him and his girlfriend broke up and from the sound of things, it was pretty painful on both parts. I took pity on him because despite what we went through I still considered him a friend and being like I am, I'd never turn away from one in need and I talked to him and helped cheer him up. I told him he doesn't need a girlfriend like that and try to move on. I know it's going to be hard for him, but I'll help him out as much as I can. I'm still a bit cautious on what's happening, but it seems as though they're finally finished for good and we can finally become friends once again.

Although there's still a dark cloud hanging over what happened to our friendship, but perhaps if we continue to work things out like we are, that dark cloud can be lifted and things can go back to how they were, but there's always the possibility of his girlfriend trying to get between us again and ruin it although this time around I'm ready for just about anything and I won't let anything ruin the friendship we're trying to build up once again.

For Pete's Sake...

Hello once again everyone, it's almost been another two weeks since my last blog, I've been getting really lazy lately not doing as many blogs as I usually do, but as many of you know college is keeping me busy and I find it hard to write blogs and couple that with the fact that I'm been kinda losing interest in Gamespot as of late thanks to that darned glitch which they finally worked out, hooray! Although there's a smaller glitch that has appeared, but it's not as annoying. :D

Like my blog title says I've hit a few bumps in the last few weeks that have had an impact on my life, they're not big, but they are quite annoying. First of all, I don't know what's wrong with my college, but lately they've be going down the tubes. Just last week I found out that my college had cancelled one of my Cisco classes and it was a class that I needed in order to get my certification, but just to make a long story short I'm pretty steamed at them because they're forcing me to attend another semester of class just so I can get the said class. I'm really getting sick and tired of their games, but I won't have to put up with it too much longer as I'll be out of there by summer's end and moving onto something better.

If my college problems weren't enough, I've got gaming problems too, no it's not being addicting to a game, it has to do with my ever accursed Xbox 360. I was playing some Marvel vs Capcom 3 last week when the console suddenly when out and I smelled something burning. It turns out that the piece of crap finally gave out and in the process burned one of it's processors that allows it to function. I'm not going to even bother sending it to Microsoft for repair, one of my friends offered to buy it off me for parts and I agreed since it brings me closer to achieving my goal of getting a PS3.

Things could be worse for me, but I shouldn't complain as they're not all that bad, I've still got a working laptop and older gaming consoles to keep me busy until I can finally afford a PS3. Until the next blog, I'll see you in the unions and boards everyone! Later! :D

Just a little tip for you guys:

Never press that button! :P

Much Needed Update

This blog bought to you in part by:

Evil cows, they intent to destroy everything... starting with the lactose intolerance. :P

What's up everyone? Sorry for not making a blog in almost three weeks, but I just really haven't had anything go to take about, yet I felt as though I should let everyone know how I'm doing in a blog, so where shall I being?

As many of you probably didn't know, I started college last Monday on Valentine's Day of all days which really didn't bug me since I never really liked Valentine's Day, but what really made me mad about starting college was not the loss of free time, but in fact my college is playing games with me. As with a lot of college students I filled out my FASFA hoping to get finical aid since this semester I really can't afford it and lucky I qualified for finical aid this time around, but what really ticks me off is the fact that I have to wait until March 25th to see any of my finical aid money.

Usually most colleges get you your finical aid the week before the semester starts, but no, my college is playing games and decides to wait until we're halfway into the semester to hand it out. Thanks a lot Victor Valley College, you're screwing me over so I can't get my books which are required for my subjects.

Anyway besides the trouble at college, things have been going well at home and they couldn't be any better. I just hope I can keep up the peace between myself and my father until I let the home. I haven't been gaming as much as I like since my Xbox 360 decided to once again take a dump on me when I was playing Marvel vs Capcom 3 last night. I'm tried of its antics and once I get my finical aid, it's time to turn that sucker in and get a PS3! It's probably the best time to get one since a lot of excellent titles are coming out later this year that I'd like to play. :D

As far as watching stuff, I've just been engaged in watching anime and I've finished up quite a few within the last few weeks since I last blogged and I've finally found a site where I can watch the Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works movie in good quality, I've been wanting to see the movie since it was first announced and I can tell you, it didn't disappoint, but I've still got a lot more to watch. ;) Also I want to give a special shout out to Ultimate_Kunai for helping me with a second Saber theme, it looks great! :D

As always that's all I have to say. I'll see you next blog and until then see you on the boards and in the glitchy unions! ;)

It's Raining Cows!

It's not really raining cows, but I had to come up with a blog title of some kind. Anyway, it's time for me to do another personal update as I'd call it, I usually do these kind of blogs once in a while to let everyone on Gamespot know how I'm doing and since the holidays, I've been doing great and I'll start with how things are going in college.

Thankfully things at home have been much better quieter since the holidays and now I can focus on what's important and that's college. Now as many of you know when I mentioned college last year, I said it was my last year being there, but it turns out my college added some more requirements for me to graduate which doesn't make me too happy, but I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it. I was also in some trouble since I couldn't really afford to pay for this semester and my parents weren't going to help me, but the good news is after spending half a day in line for finical aid, I'm going to get some help from my college which is a good thing. So this semester won't be so hard on my pocket. :D

As far as television, there hasn't been a single thing on that interests me and although I'm watching Batman Beyond, I wanted something else to watch and my sister recommended me an anime called Martian Successor Nadesico:

I thought for sure the series wouldn't be that good, but I cast my doubts aside and started watching it and I'm up to episode six so far and I've got to say, I was completely wrong about the series, it's actually pretty good and full of some great humor, I might review the series once I'm done watching it. Other than that, I'll just keep watching what I have for DVDs.

Gaming is probably the biggest news I've got, I recently went to Gamestop this weekend to check out some games since I was kinda getting bored of my current games and I really didn't see anything I liked, but while I was there I decided to pre-order two games for my Xbox 360, both of which are fighting games:

That's right, Mortal Kombat and Marvel vs Capcom 3, both of which are high profile games that are coming out this year, the first being Marvel vs Capcom 3 as it comes out later this month, I can't wait to play the game as judging from all the game play it's going to be epic and I really don't need to explain myself when it comes to Mortal Kombat, I'm hyped for when the game releases in April and I know it's going to be the best Mortal Kombat game in a while. :D

Overall things are looking pretty good for me and I couldn't be happier, now if only my Xbox 360 would stop messing up at times. Anyway, I'll see you all on the boards and in the unions like always, later! :D

Never mind, it is raining cows!

Anything But Tangerines

So it seems as though I've been tagged yet again, seriously I really hate tagging, but just to be a good sport I'll do it. Supposedly I've been tagged by dorthie2 and I'm suppose to list my top five games of 2010, well that doesn't sound too hard, so let's get it over with:

Top Five Games Of 2010:

5. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 - I've played a lot of Naruto games before and most of them weren't good, but this was the first one that was actually worth playing.

4. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit - This game came out of nowhere and actually surprised me on how great it was.

3. Halo Reach - A great way for Bungie to end the Halo franchise for themselves.

2. Mass Effect 2 - I borrowed this off a friend for a few days and it was just as epic as the first one.

1. Red Dead Redemption - After delaying on getting the game, I was glad to get it because it turned out to be one of the best games I played last year and I'm still putting some hours into it.

So there you have it, my top five games of 2010 and for tagging, I'm not going to tag anyone as I want this thing to die right away, but anyone is more than welcomed to do it if they want. ;)

Groovy! My Review Of Earthworm Jim

I'm here to talk about a very unique game that was made back in 1994 for the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, Sega CD, PC, Gameboy Adavnce, and Xbox Live, that's quite a lot of system just for one game, but this version of the game I'm going to be talking about in particular is the Sega Genesis version which most people consider the best version of the game. Now what game could I possibly be talking about? Well, if you were born in the 80s or 90s chances are you've heard of Earthworm Jim, it's basically a platformer with shooting mechanics, but what sets Earthworm Jim apart from other games of its day was its smart and witty humor, something that the series was probably best known for. Anyway let's get into my review of the game and to start, let's talk about the story.

Story: Trying to explain the story of Earthworm Jim is kinda hard since you're thrown into the action right away, yet thankfully the instruction booklet gives you a little heads up on what's going on. Basically the story in Earthworm Jim starts as our hero Jim, who is just your typical earthworm is digging around in the dirt and enjoying himself. He digs himself from the soil and is promptly attacked by a crow and while this is going on in space a mutant crow by the name of Psycrow is transporting a special suit to Queen-Slug-For-A-Butt that was designed by Professor-Monkey-For-A-Head to help her in her conquest of the galaxy. Trying to reach the Queen as fast as he can Psycrow makes a mistake and the super suit ends up falling to Earth where it ends up landing on top of Jim and the suit mutates him into a much larger and smarter, if you can call earthworms smart. Jim surprised by what the suit has done to him experiments with it by zapping the crow that was attack him with the ray-gun. It's not too long before Psycrow comes around and sees that the suit isn't around. He contacts the queen and tells her of the situation and Jim overhears Psycrow talking about keeping Princess-What's-Her-Name prisoner. So basically Jim decides to play hero and rescue the Princess which leads him all over the galaxy, meeting a colorful cast of characters. The story is quite weird I'll admit, but I really don't have a problem with it and you shouldn't let it put you off from playing it.

Sound: Despite the weirdness of the story of Earthworm Jim, the sound is quite a different story for the game. Depending on which version of the game you're playing, you'll experience probably one of the most original soundtracks in a game I've heard and that's all thanks to Tommy Tallarico who worked on the soundtrack for the Genesis, Sega CD, and PC version of the game. He didn't work on the Super Nintendo version for some reason, but I'm not going to complain since the SNES version has its own unique sound. Anyway the music is definitely one of the strong points of Earthworm Jim, there's not a song within the game that doesn't fit and all of them are quite catchy too and some of them are quite funny too, like in the second level, What The Heck? the level starts off with Night On Bald Mountain and then a record scratches turning it over to the main song, it's a nice little touch and you'll definitely laugh your head off when Peter Puppy actually skips in beat with the song on For Pete's Sake. There's various sound bites of Jim saying silly stuff which also adds a nice little touch to the game and overall like I said, it's a great soundtrack that everyone will love.

Graphics: This is definitely another one of Earthworm Jim's strong points is the graphics, despite being made for the Sega Genesis which is supposed to be a technically less advanced system than the Super Nintendo, I'm quite surprised by what Shiny Entertainment was able to pull off on with the Genesis. The graphics despite being made in 1994 hold up quite wetland you can definitely tell a lot of effort went into the game to make sure there was no graphical hiccups or slowdown within the game and after playing the game a few times, I've found no issues with the graphics either. In fact I'd say the Genesis version of the game is better in the graphics department versus the Super Nintendo version because the graphics from what I've seen on the SNES version seem to be washed out compared to the Genesis and there's also some graphic effects that were left out of the SNES version that make the Genesis version look better, but that's only a small little problem and overall the graphics for each version are quite good and show a level of creativity that seems to be missing from today's games.

Game Play and Controls: Earthworm Jim is pretty much your basic platformer with shooting elements thrown in. It works quite well for the game and its bound to keep you entertained for a few hours, but there's only so much the game can do with the shooting part, sure they try to mix up the shooting by throwing in a race where you race Psycrow through an asteroid field, but it tends to wear thin after a few hours of play. This is probably where Earthworm Jim is at it's weakest, the game play. It would have been nice to see some more variety besides going from level to level and shooting things up and thankfully the sequel remedied that problem, but for the sheer amount of humor and great music, Earthworm Jim will keep you going to the end. The controls within the game aren't anything to complain about and they allow you to set the controls to you're liking which is always a plus in my book. One more thing I'd like to mention about Earthworm Jim is that it's not a game for beginners, the game can be quite difficult in some areas especially during the third level where you're forced to do a race. It will frustrate new players to the game, but if you can get past that, the game gets much better after that.

Overall: Earthworm Jim is a fun and addicting game to play despite having some difficult levels and a lack of a save feature, but for those of you that are willing to look past that, you'll find a game that's definitely worth your time for at least an afternoon. 8.5 out of 10.

Recent Purchases: Usual Stuff, New Year

It's that time once again where I share with you my most recent purchases and I've got to tell you, I had quite a good haul this weekend of stuff, so let's begin shall we?

Halo: The Fall Of Reach

Now I'll admit, I've never been the biggest fan of Halo, but the games were always something to do when I had time to kill and I've never actually read the books based on the games, but after a recommendation from a friend, I decided to pick up Halo: The Fall Of Reach and I've gotta say, the book was actually worth the ten dollars I paid for it, I'm about halfway through the book and it's quite interesting to see how Master Chief started out before he became the legendary hero we all know of him as.

Sonic #220

Well, what can I say about Sonic, I always make it my job to keep up on the latest Sonic comics, although I've fallen just a little behind in the last month or so, but Sonic #220 was definitely a great issue and I've got to get #221 so I know what happens since it ended on a cliffhanger of sorts.

Rosario+Vampire Vol. 1

Okay so I'll admit, I'm usually very cautious when reading anything new especially when it comes to manga, but after much hounding from shadowchronicle, I decided to give Rosario+Vampire a chance and thankfully it has nothing to do with emo sparkly vampires, it's actually quite a good series, the plot is interesting, although I have to get into it more. Thanks for recommending it to me once again shadow. ;)

Earthworm Jim HD

Definitely one of my favorite games from the 90s. I picked up Earthworm Jim HD from the Xbox Live Arcade for only 400 Microsoft points, that's a steal for a great game and honestly I don't see why everyone is complaining about the HD port of the game, sure some of the charm of the original Genesis version is missing, but it's still the same Earthworm Jim that we loved from the 90s. You can definitely expect a review of the original game from me sometime in the future.

Red Dead Redemption

A game I bought before the holidays and honestly, it's the best damn game I bought last year and it's definitely my pick for Game Of The Year for 2010. The game is just amazing, it's like Grand Theft Auto in the west and of course Rockstar knows how to make great games. I've still got the game in my Xbox 360 right now and I doubt it's going to be leaving the console anytime soon, although I still need to get The Undead Nightmare pack since everyone said it's worth it.

Batman Beyond: The Complete Series

Definitely the biggest purchase of this blog. I've always been a big fan of Batman The Animated Series and Batman Beyond was no expectation to this rule and when Warner Bros. finally released the complete series on DVD, I was quite excited and decided to shop around various sites too see where I could get the best price on the series and sure enough Amazon offered the best deal since they offered free two day shipping if I bought it, so I did and now I own the complete series along with The Animated Series.
