Activision advertises Destiny while Gamespot editors review it. In an ideal world those 2 things have no connection

@phbz Sony cares about sales much more than they care about reviews.

Me having a problem with their comments has nothing to do with their right to develop the game how they see fit. They can develop whatever game they want and I can choose whether I want to support it.

Ubisoft has 10 studios working on Assassin's Creed 5. If they don't want to spend a little extra to record a female voice that's okay. I just don't like hearing lies about it. They've already made female models and the bulk of the work would be duplicating already designed outfits to fit a female frame.

Saints Row games have written multiple scripts and recorded dialog for multiple main character voices - including JOKE voices. Like I said, if any studio has the money to duplicate animations and voices for male and female it would be Ubisoft. These things have already been done before.

The $35,000 was not for 2 weeks of work. It was an upfront payment for all the work to be done. The flaw in the contract is that there was no specification on how long or how much work the artist had agreed to do. At least, as told here.

I think it is rather suspicious that the artists name wouldn't have been shared when this occurred and still isn't being shared now. There is no reason to grant someone like that a professional courtesy. There is likely more to the story that makes Winterkewl look worse.

Ubisoft should be able to make games however they want, but when they make public statements about female models being "too hard" then they are going to get criticized for their feigned attempts at being fair. Ubisoft has several development studios so there should have been plenty of resources available to work on a female model. If Mass Effect can do it I don't see why Assassin's Creed couldn't. I can understand why they wouldn't though (money).

@tableofjapan @robfield Where in my comment do I say that Ubisoft doesn't have their own prerogative when it comes to their game development? The reason why this is an issue is because of the deceptive comments an Ubisoft rep publicly made. Ubisoft could have 100% males in their games, but when someone from Ubisoft makes a comment that modeling females is "too hard" or "too much work" then they are going to get criticized for that.

Reasonable people are more upset that Ubisoft complained about it being "too hard" more than Ubisoft not including women. The real reason seems to be a cost issue and not a difficulty issue. Ubisoft probably has 9 different studios across the world working on AC5. If any publisher could do something it should be Ubisoft. Let's not forget that Mass Effect had two different player models and voices for male and female.

The number is close to 48%, just not for the types of games that people on Gamespot generally consider. The bump in female players mostly comes from casual games associated with mobile devices.

Yes, we get it. You can name some female lead characters. Now adjust for time. Now realize that Ubisoft said it was "too hard". If you still don't see a problem with Ubisoft's statement then we will just have to agree to disagree.
