Nothing wrong with listening to this guy. He IS the godfather of gaming consoles. I think he's right about the Wii being crap but for different reasons. What it all boils down to is the game support. There are a LOT of crappy games on the Wii, proportionately more when compared to other consoles even disregarding what the target demographic is for each system. I strongly agree with what he says about storytelling and immersion concerning the game environment. It may not get better with a newer console with better hardware, graphics not withstanding. A great game is great when it strikes a chord within a player or evokes a response. Greater games are still out there but it doesn't need a new console to bring this about. Not yet. And really, all the things that consoles do, a computer can do just as well if the software were written for it. The real reason developers are more likely to create games for consoles is because it should be easier to write code and optimize for set hardware and firmware specs. Just my 2 cents

also, should it really surprise anyone that a parent that would pull out a firearm near their child during an argument not mess up the child as he was growing up to begin with? messed parents usually make messed up kids. maybe video games is the kid's way of coping with his violent dad? and why are we calling him a child? He's 22 and of legal drinking age.
hate to break it to ppl but we lost the war on drugs. So legislators have to move on the next big thing and it happens to be video games. Really what the issue at stake is that parents aren't doing so great a job of raising their kids so it is up to the government to bring in broad actions that control the kids that some parents neglect. America is falling apart because of poor parenting but not too many want to admit it. I, like everyone else here, enjoy video games. However, I believe it is necessary to put a cap on the behavior on individuals who are generally not developmentally cognitive to determine what is appropriate and inappropriate before certain poor behaviors become ingrained in their character. Most theaters prevent minors from viewing rated R films. How is controlling the purchase of 'M' rated video games any different? Forget this argument of whether game bills are constitutional, if you really think about it, minors don't possess full constitutional rights and so can have certain liberties taken away. Those who argue against could then also say that the legal drinking age should be done away with because it prevents free expression of culinary arts (or however you want to classify drinking alcohol, but it is in certain cases an art such as wine, beer, whiskeys, and vodka) Here's a question. Does anyone here above the age of 18 know much about child development and psychology or are an educator? If you do then you would know that children at certain ages cannot see the other side of the box or that they do not see the world as adults do. It is an observable scientific fact. Look up Piaget, Vygotsky, Erikson et al.
Good GRIEF!! Have any of the people in this forum read the original Conan stories by Robert E. Howard? Judging from a good chunk of the messages I'd have to say no. Conan is not an inarticulate illiterate musclehead, that's the California governor. The real Conan is versed in multiple languages and advanced military training. The guy was a progressive king of Aquilonia for cripes sakes. One of the coolest things about Conan is that he is as much philosopher as he is barbarian. He states that civilization is an artificial state and that barbarism is the natural calling of society because that's what he believed it would always revert to. And That Is Why He Always Wins. He was an adventurer and a barbarian by choice and by talent. The man knew why he was a barbarian, not too stupid to realize why he was. Conan is badass not only because he could kill you but also because he knew why you had to die.
Let's face it. Atari is a bad publisher. There's a list of games that they rushed onto the shelves in a near alpha state just so they can fake a good quarterly report for investors. Games like Temple of Elemental Evil should have been better if Atari gave them the time to actually finish it.
