Hi everyone. I have just recently bought an xbox one s, however turning the console completey off is turning into a headache.

I no in instant on mode the console is in just a standby mode, however i have mine set to energy saver. The problem i find is that when i hold the button on the controller and select turn off, the console still ocassionally spins the disk drive or it's fans as if it isn't completely off, which i thought is what energy saver mode is for.

At the minute i am just going into settings and selecting full shutdown. Is that really the way i have to do it everytime i turn the console off.

The one thing i see thrown around more than anything is that the switch isn't at the same power level as ps4 and x1. In my mind if anyone really expected this to be and to be at a decent price point then there expectations were way off.

I have pre ordered the switch and i cannot wait for march 3rd. However i do have my own concerns more based around how many games will the switch have after what appears to be a great first year. Let's be honest the wii and wii u yes has great games but no where near enough of them.

Also many people are concerned about the online structure and how well it will work.

My advice would be to look at the actual information that has been released and take no influence from forum members.

One pokemon game i would love to see bought back for the switch would be a new stadium game.

I think that would be be perfect for a hybrid style console.

This is why i like nintendo so much and why i am looking forward to the switch.

Nintendo don't follow the usual trends and do we really need a third console in the same vain as the ps4 and x1.

Also as has been said previously. If the switch does become the only console they promote in the future both 3ds and home console development will all go to one console effectively doubling the amount of games on the switch.

That is what matters though. What makes Nintendo stand out is there ip.

I completely agree they don't have them out in enough quantity, but what i feel they should do isn't to target the usual fifa and COD etc , but to put upfront the cost to get other devs to make exclusives for the switch. Basically offset some development to other developers. But they don't have to give up there ip to do that.

Am i the only one who doesn't care about the big AAA third party games like COD and Battlefield being on the switch.

All i hear are people complainig that they won't be there. However for me all i want is a good variety of nintendo games at a good pace of releasing along with maybe indies or slightly bigger titles every now and then to fill in the gaps.

Hey everyone, i am currently researching for an article about the future of the gaming industry particularly the console industry.

At the moment my opinion is that it is leading to either a one device space, where each company simply digitally distributes there games to this device, or merging with something along the lines of steam as the lead platform. Before people ridicule me let me explain my thought process.

At the moment we are currently going through the phase where game releases are sparse at best, typical for the launch of new consoles, however every dev or at least most are saying that development times are lengthening all the time, cost is getting astronomical leading to less big budget games overall. Yoshida's latest comments are the perfect example of this admitting that sony will have less big budget titles overall.

Will this lead to the eventual reality that AAA titles will lessen, with the take up of the middle ground being indie titles to fill the space. With this potential will most people turn away from gaming as the worlds economy allows for less money for people to own three consoles, but at the same time not willing to put up with less releases overall. Yes less releases lead to cheaper cost on the consumer, but only one game every few months is definitely not a good thing when some games only last a potential 5 hours with tacked on multiplayer.

The other part that led me to this decision was also how microsoft conducted the original X1 ideas, and sony with the roll out of Ps now. If the devices become simple streaming devices for each companies services, what would be the point of having three separate streaming services done on three separate devices. Sony are already implementing this into their tv's and microsoft could do it with windows 8 but what about nintendo, and again, tv's and computers aren't cheap to buy just for a streaming service.

I'm not saying this is the future, it's just where i personally see it heading, again to in the next few years maybe but certainly in the next 10 or 20 years as the internet gets bigger and faster for everyone.

What is everyone else's ideas about the direction we are heading. Will we still have all three companies making consoles or will we see the console disappear completely.

With killzone and ryse in mind it's hard to really compare them, they both seem to show their graphical detail in different ways.

By that i mean with killzone, it seems to have evenly distributed detail throughout, kind of like i can imagine that if i went off the side of a building and walked for a while, the whole world would have the same level of detail. With ryse though, yes upclose in characters faces and the immediate surroundings, the level of detail is simply stunning, but soon drops off in the backgrounds, to the the point of where they start to look like cardboard cutouts similar to what gt uses for it's backgrounds.

Simply at the minute it is way to early to tell which will be the graphically superior console, it just boils down to how they are individually used. For instance microsoft may stick to the ryse method of having all the detail in your face, but non else where, as where as sony developers may follow killzone and evenly output the detail including in the inaccessible background segments, thus making the rest look slightly worse off for it. It all depends on what you want as the gamer in terms of the graphical method.

Personally i like the evened out method, it just seems to make the game world more believable. I just really hope that graphics and the stupid resolution arguments don't force devs into only concentrating on that and just make what we all want decent playable games.

Hey guys. I managed to get me a ps4 about a week ago. I have watched a few films through it no issue at all. However last night i came across an issue with the audio cutting out for a few seconds, and the picture turning purple. Has anyone else experienced this. I also tried a few that worked perfectly at first and even they now have this issue.

I think I'm going to have to. It definitely isn't right I just didn't want to if i didn't have to. Il phone them tomorrow and see what can be done. I don't want it i in the computer any longer than it has to be.
