I got a 3dsxl a couple weeks ago because I have a PS3 already so I can play games that are on vita already like Dragons Crown and SLY. With that being said the 3ds is absolute GARBAGE. I dont know where to begin, friend codes are stupid and awful, the internet browser is TERRIBLE, they actually restrict you with how many times you can play a demo. BTW they only have a handful of demos available. The thing is uncomfortable in my hands, the dpad is too small, the volume slide is on the left side of the 3dsxl where my hand is so its constantly being accidentally turned up. The 3d effect makes things look blurry most of the time so I keep it down. Every single thing about the vita is significantly better and only the ninty babies will argue otherwise.

The firmware update MESSED up my 3dsxl to the point where itd freeze when id go to connect to miiverse or e-shop. There is no solution! Its a common problem! You cant delete past Nintendo updates! I had to exchange my 3dsxl for another one! WTF would have happened if my 3dsxl was out of warranty? Also the best ninty games hold there value so well that you can expect to pay FULL price for 1-3 year old mario games like 3d world unless theres a sale. OOT? Full PRICE. Its no wonder ninty is going down the drain! If Sony would wisen up and actually put out quality exclusives that are SOLELY on the VIta Itd be easy to recommend Vita.

With that being said I bought a 3dsxl for both Zeldas, Pokemon, the Mario games, thats pretty much the reason to own it. If you like games on the Vita and 3ds and the determining factor is hardware then choose vita you also get PS+ and you can play demos as many times as you like. Seriously F-YOU Nintendo. I bought Zelda ALBW and its been shipped by BB it better be worth it!

Yeah, the hardware feels ancient after the Vita. 3DS is worth it for the usuals....Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Mario, etc.

I love the vita. It is my third best handheld imo. 3ds isn't doing it for me. I just don't play it that much for some reason.

Me too. Once you play the Vita, the hardware, interface, etc. in 3DS feels ancient.

There is so much squandered potential with the Vita. It really can be a handheld PS3.

Lets get rid of cutscenes 1st, then we'l talk QTE's.

Nah I like cutscenes. :)

Although I have to admit that I also think the same on cutscenes as I do QTE's; some games do them right, but most do them wrong. There should NEVER be a freaking long ass cutscene before a boss, or at least there shouldn't be one that is not skippable. Cutscenes should be resting points made for major transitions in a game, not long scenes only built to make said boss look cooler.

Yes, to go further into your point, I think when it comes to both cutscenes and QTEs, developers forget why they were originally there in the first place, which is why some games do them wrong.

QTE are good in games like God of War because you are battling a boss/enemy with high intensity with sweaty palms probably mashing on buttons (at least that's what I do) and then to finish them off QTE pop up so they are there to change the intensity to a more finesse like approach. This is also logically necessary to finish off a colossal enemy with a well-times and precise pinprick fatal move. They are there logically as well as a fun transition to change up the gameplay.

95% games do not do this and just toss them in.

I'm not impressed at all nor has anyone else I know been impressed at all. I actually forgot about them. I still consider the PS3/360 "this generation".

I have both handhelds and end up playing the Vita way more. You can hate on the OS all you want, but at least the hardware isn't 10 years old like the 3DS.

"It was as if a million voices cried out in pain and were suddenly silenced"

It's not like the forums are just not as active as before. I mean it has essentially died.

How they handle this situation will determine the ongoing success of forums and perhaps the site of a whole.

If they revert back to the old style or come up with one that is actually intuitive, they will salvage what little fan support remains as well as proven to have listened to the feedback

OR

They won't. This site will continue its downward trajectory and show that they won't listen to feedback (which is obviously overwhelming, perhaps unanimous, which is shown indirectly in the rate of forum posts lately and directly in all the "This new layout sucks" topics.

Continuing down this path isn't beneficial to anyone, so I'm personally quite puzzled. The site is nowhere near as popular as a few years ago and for the GS forums were by far the best out there and gave me a reason to visit the site multiple times a day. Now, I'm only here to try and get a decent forum back. I'm sure there may be hesitation because the design cost some money, but long-term is going to suffer insurmountably compared to the short-term.

I just returned after a few year hiatus and also wondering what the heck happened. These forums used to be extremely busy and now It is quite literally a ghost town.

I might try your suggestion of joystiq.com.

I am playing xillia right now .... I was extremely skeptical at the beginning of the game but it grew on me and I can't put it down at the moment ... the story was surprisingly decent too.

I consider myself a follower of the franchise and can't wait for Xilli 2 and the other latest one.

I just started a few days ago and the story starts off so slooooooooow. But I just got off like a 5 hour marathon session and I usually can't play more like an hour of any other game.
