In my opinion, the challenge for video games to have a novel-worthy story is not the existence of a setting, exposition, conflict or resolution - these things can be delivered with a one-liner (I won't guarantee it would be a good one, but it's possible). The problem is that of elaboration - it's hard to deliver the nitty-gritty details like character development decently in a video game without a compromise in interactivity. Things like the comment box in Suikoden and skits in the Tales series can give a rare glimpse into the minds of your characters that are usually irrelevant to the main plot but allows the game to feel immersive. However, though entertaining, they more or less come out awkward, if not forced. Of course, somebody out there can create a game where the protagonist blurts out all his/her thoughts and musings throughout the game whether walking in a town or shooting/slicing enemies but that would come out really distracting while you are playing the game.
In a different twist - a Persona game file with all the female social links (with the possibility of them being their girlfriend) headed for the "Friend" path is full of rejection. Then again, having them ALL has girlfriends doesn't help either. At least in a monogamous society.
If those were taken without any tweaking then that is a REAL improvement. Let's just hope the new screen won't consume a gazillion watts. Also, why save the "PSP-only" package for later? I already have R&C: Size Matters.
@athenian29: Yeah, I hope they bring back the history series. I read every article at least twice already. And yeah, blue shells are for jerks. The best you could do when you're about to get hit is either cross the finish line before it touches you (which always manages to raise my blood pressure) or find a collateral to take with you.
Dang, they didn't put images of the weapons. They're like, Gods. Then again, there's Knights of the Round materia. And mime. And lucky 7. And underwater materia. Still, they look cool, and don't need the unbelievable amounts of gel Sephiroth and Cloud put on their heads.
