Wait...they're saying that if they didn't veer off it would be like the old Super Mario movie. Did they watch the same Super Mario movie that everyone else did? Because it was nothing even close to the video games.... are they saying the Warcraft lore is bad or something lmao?

And I love that Super Mario Bros. movie, btw. I know its dumb, but I still love it.

Contracts are contracts. I can't fault anyone here really since it seems they've already settled it and everything is still clear to continue. I know it sucks for the rest of the Dev team but... I suppose this is better than the time to take it to court as well as the chance of a higher payout for the plaintiff.

They should have gone for Ark: Survival Evolved's way.. The monstrosities. Everyone is their own special snowflake in that game...

...and really, a lot of men play female characters when available; and many women play male characters in MMO games by choice.

Really, though, it doesn't matter on the character model: it matters on the game. They could replace the model with a faceless, gender-less figure and it'd be the same.

@jenovaschilld: Hm no... A game is as hard to develop for depending on as complex as you want it....

Curious I looked up Namco Bandai, the overall company (not just Tales Studio) and they have apx 1000. But they make a great number of games simultaneously: Naruto games, mobile games, and then they have the Tales studio (which used to be a separate group and used to be only just barely at around 100 people). They just merged Tales studio into NamcoBandai about 4 years ago.

And then I looked up Naughty Dog. Which has apx. 300. Sure it's a 1/3 but they're not working on about 12 games at once.

It's probably safe to say they use a similar system of: getting close to completion, start drawing boarding the next project.

I can't use SquareEnix as example because I don't know where their divisions separate; and since Capcom has abandoned the Breath of Fire series and Konami has pretty much gone rouge and we'll never see Suikoden again....IDK if we're really in a revival more that it's actually being marketed (something I always criticized Namco for... "Oh Tales games don't sell in the US so we aren't localizing them"... they never marketed them, they just plop them down randomly when they felt like it near the release of a Final Fantasy game's release during the 90's... Duh...of course its not selling, morons.

And a lot of people are solo-players that play for story. I think its a misconception that everyone wants multiplayer.

@keichimorisato9: Zesteria had some camera control issues; like some reviews of SO5 here have been getting.

I think the problem is with S05 is that people went under the assumption that it was following the lines of recent SquareEnix titles, but it seems to just continue where Star Ocean left off but it's been so long since then...
...Tales fans get the same system and game set-up back to back within about 1-2 years of each other with variants so we are forgiving on wonky cameras and bizarre things they throw in (like Xillia2's silent Protagonist and choice system). Because really, just as you said the worst Tales games aren't necessary bad, they're just very meh...just a standard game to play through and probably never play again.

:)

Are you surprised? Facebook bought them; have you seen the ad-spam it can be? Seriously, if you go to play one of their games, you are plastered with ads..

Now they want to use what you're playing on your Oculus to produce more ads. Welp, I hope you ain't into any kinky stuff.

I don't know if it's entirely true that less JRPGs are coming out in the United States as apposed to the fact that there isn't that many console JRPGS to come out.

It's true, the United States does not have a Mobile Market. I know. I downloaded Tales of Link, but haven't played it. I just don't play mobile games. I only downloaded it because it was a Tales game. Just as I have purchased EVERY Tales game, including, you know, the ones that have been released over here.

...Really the Tales series is the only "consistent" JRPG series to release games. They utilize multiple markets to push the product and they've probably sold more of one of the recent Tales games in the absence of a main Final Fantasy title than all the previous combined. The market is still there... we haven't gone anywhere. There are plenty of opportunities I see them not taking so I don't get it.

HD remaster Valkyrie Profile and VP2 and release on PS4 as a collector's set for example. Make PS4 compatible copies of games that have been lost due to time or the fact that a good collectible copy is just so very expensive. There are things to be done... many of us don't even care if the voice gets big-budget dubbed. Just playable and good quality.

@lostn: As I already stated: Midgar is huge, there is no telling if they may expand past the sectors we have seen and expand on the sectors we have.

...Also, new point: We don't know how the combat will affect play time either if it's anything like FF13 I'll expect 30 minute random encounters that make me want to cry (plzno).
