I'm glad the dogs are okay. If I meet any dog owners with S hooks or thinking of getting S hooks, I'll let them know.

Also, she's adorable...she looks great in the new photo =D

We had to keep telling Ava to stop trying to lick Skylars eye when we brought her from the vet.

Thank you for your post/warning. Glad to know your dogs are okay. It must'v been quite scary for you.

It was. after it initially happened, and when i finally got them seperated and such, i was literally shaking a bit.

For someone with a hook on her eyelid she looks quite chill and happy =P Glad she's ok =)

Yea shes a trooper. once seperated and such, she didnt even whine. acted like nothing even happened.

I'm not even sure of what that is, so I guess I'm in the clear.

S-Hook. a way of attaching dog tags to their collar. http://amernameplate.com/images/dogtag2.jpg

My girlfriend took our cat's collar off a few years ago and she became a different cat. I've never believed in pets wearing collars all day long.

We've just always done it. Though now im starting to take off their collars while inside. They dont act any different though.

Taking my dogs to the dog park.

its fun to meet other dogs and i enjoy watching my Aussies have a great time. I often throw a frisbee for Ava. she chases it, but doesnt bring it back, so im often walking back and forth throwing a frisbee. Skylar is the playful one, she plays with the other dogs.

Cant go to the dog park for a while though due to recent events, so that sucks.

If you use S-Hooks for your pets rabies tags/other tags, i really suggest you switch to something else.

Was making a pizza and my Aussies were rough-housing like normal. all seemed well. until i heard one of them whining. so i looked up and saw that Skylar was really close to Ava, and they were frantic.

At first i thought Skylar had her jaw stuck in Ava's collar, we've had that happen once before. So i rushed over there to fix the situation.

But what i came to was so much worse. The S-Hook (that their rabies tag is connected to) from Avas collar was in Skylars eyelid. Thank god we have quick release collars. i was able to snap both collars off quickly.

But the S-Hook had got stuck in Sky's bottom eyelid, even protruding out further down, like a fish hook. I had to cut Ava's collar so the whole thing wasnt just dangling from Sky's eyelid.

WARNING- image of the tag stuck in her eyelid:http://i.imgur.com/0JP5HfM.jpg

We have since taken her to the vet, she is doing fine, we got some meds and her eye wasnt scratched at all.

Just throwing out this warning so this doesnt happen to your dog/s.

also found this while reading up on S-Hooks: http://forum.eskie.net/index.php?topic=10278.0;wap2

So it has happened before, and should be of concern to pet owners.
