Honestly, if you asked me 40-50 hours in I would agree with a 10/10 review, I was amazed. It felt like a legit tactical shooter. Took me 60+ hours to finally realize its at best, maybe a 8. Its missing key parts of the plot, repeated missions, complete and utter lack of any coherent story (70% of the missions amount to fetch this guy, kill this dude etc.) and really it lacks the soul of MGS. No whimsy, no overbearing commentary on the military industrial complex, no nothing. Its just a game with amazing gameplay but no soul that sucks you in but forgets to tell a story.

My least favourite memory of this game was getting dropped off and thinking like a traditional shooter mentality cover here, shoot that, then someone said Big Boss, it finally dawned on me I was playing a MGS game.

You can clearly tell when Kojima got kicked off the project and in all honesty, it feels 3/4 finished. Combine all these elements with this stupid horse armor dlc and really, you have a game thats fun to play, but nothing more beyond that will leave you with some pangs of regret for having gave them more credit when it was due. It pulls you and makes you think wow, this is gonna be a thrill ride, and by all accounts, it is fun to play, but in the end it leaves you wanting more, or at the very least, a finished product.

@Jacanuk: Did you even read my post? We're not talking about merits of one over another here, we're talking about how taxing one game will be in comparison to another, Witcher 3 being a benchmark not for gameplay replayability and over all value, but rather in terms of pc specs and how much of a burden it is on a gaming pc rig.

Any thoughts in regards to whether or not the Fallout 4 recommended specs are bloated? I'm thinking I'm good to go come release next month but who knows?

Do you guys really believe the recommended pc specs posted by Bethesda are bloated? I just upgraded to a MSI GTX 970 gpu and Im rocking a I5 4670 3.4 ghz quadcore cpu and im rocking witcher at ultra with hairworks off. I just want to know the thoughts of the community in regards to this upcoming release? This has nothing to do with the merits of one over the other (so no graphic whores losing their minds about X game).

P.S. Is a low to mid 70c CPU while operating under load high/dangerous to my pc?

You are fine then. Go with a 970 or a R9 390.

The extra video memory on the AMD card might help you later on with graphical mods on Fallout 4, if you desire them.

Both cards are good upgrades. Your CPU is fine too.

See the thing I don't get here is, SRTESTLAB says my gpu is fine, other then the 1GB of total memory, but it says i need atleast a quadcore 3.6ghz cpu while mine is only a 3.4ghz. I've had problems running Fallout New Vegas in the past with mods such as increased wasteland spawns n whatnot, anything really to make the world feel more populated would drop it down a tad so I guess we'll wait and see. I've always found open world games to give my rig a bit of a problem sometimes. I'm aiming for atleast medium-high with this upgrade ideally.

Worst comes to worse and I do need a cpu, would downgrading to a 960 gpu and shelling out the rest onto a new cpu be advisable? I rock MGS V Phantom Pain at high/max settings at a constant 60 fps, Witcher 3 at maybe 45fps on low-medium on max resolution if that helps.

I really wish someone from Bethesda would up and say what the pc specs were on the pc used for the gameplay demo were and save us a lot of trouble.

Thanks for all the replies folks, so the 970 is the way to go it seems. Anyone know a good distributor for it in Canada? Also what manufacturer should I go with? I'm looking at either MSI or EVGA. Also should I try out for the OC edition? Thoughts?

@04dcarraher: 4gb of ram you mean right?

MonsieurX: Reason I'm keen on a 970 is because I'd like to be able to rock some other high profile games at max or near max, Witcher 3 is collecting dust in my steam library because I'm lucky if I get a solid 60fps at medium-ish as is. How much overkill you think a 970 will be? Was thinking maybe a 960 would do the trick but idk
