I think that Halo may be the leader in console game AI but really nothing touches the complex routines of AI in games like crysis, Fear and half life on PC. That being said the Elites in Halo reach are scary smart and fast. Probably the most formidable opponent I've experienced in a game for a while.
I laughed when they interviewed the head of Microsoft games studios, why don't they just call him the head of Rare, the only real dev still in Microsoft's fold.
All i can say is limiting installs on games is just ridiculous, when someone has OS issues a game might get installed three times in a month, right along side the OS, opps! My roommate was ran out of bioshock installs in a week because of a Ram slot failure, well thought out guys. I think most mega publishers are making better games finally, but the DRM has scared me away from many a console port etc. Steam is the best and if i could i'd register every retail game i own with steam like dawn of war 2 and fear 2, and UT3 can. If devs want to prevent piracy they should all partner with valve to allow this kind of integration of their back catalog.
If it works, everything will change if it works Microsoft and Sony will wish all they had to worry about is the wii, if it works pc gaming hardware firms will loose their markets.
well, all i can say is that pc game requirements have become considerably lower, if only the eee pc's had capable processors, pared with capable integrated chipsets offered by nvidia and ati, then we'd be ok.
EALA, they ironically are the ones who've reacted to the evolution of the genre the poorest, if you play company of heroes, medieval total war 2, supreme commander, and world in conflict, and then play C&C3, which game feels the most out of date? Lets wait and see if Blizzard makes a game deserving a 10 year wait or if they deliver us a simple 3D update.
Ironically the PS3 has lost in the cross platform content pretty much every time, on the flip side, comparing exclusive content, the ps3 is far superior, but the architecture is just not cross platform friendly.
i do like that they finally hit home the main problem with the developer, i mean look at valve they balance innovation and retro games perfectly, perhaps blizzard could try and push out a idea someone else didn't have ten years ago. i love, love blizzard rts's but they are designing a game around people who only want a 3D face lift to a classic game, yes i think that star craft and diablo will be better sequels than the current command and conqeur cr@P but honestly they need to really try and embrace some of the new interface ideas. i don't want much from starcraft 2, just a better interface, not the same old hotkey heavy bull.
