CLARIFICATION: I was hoping someone would tell me that there was going to be a model of the PS4 that was backward compatible.
I own Nintendo games, and want a second console. Also, there are people in the market for their first console. They walk into the store, and see all the PlayStation game disks. But, they are told that they need to buy TWO consoles to play the PS games, because the PS4 is not backward compatible to play PS games that are even being released today.

I WAS DISAPPOINTED, because I had been waiting for the next generation PlayStation, so I could buy a second console and play them all.

(My Nintendo Wii plays smaller Nintendo Game Cube disks. My Nintendo Game Cube plays other disks, and has a “player” that plays Nintendo GameBoy Advance cartridges on the TV. This is in addition to the Wii Shopping Channel to buy games using the internet connection.)

Imagine: Parents buy a first PlayStation console for the holidays, only to find out that it will not play most of the PlayStation game disks that are on the store shelves.

I own a Wii, and was looking for another console. XBox is bad. But, the PS4 will NOT play PS3 and lower games!

What kind of a console is not backward compatible?

To make matters worse, Sony's support page is showing that PS3 consoles are getting older and malfunctioning. BUT, it is difficult to find a PS3 console.

So, a lot of PS games will be trash.

Any comment?
