lets seeee, favorite PS2 memories:

1. Games were released "complete", ie: no "day one" patches or udates to fix bugs that should have been worked out by testers.

2. NO DLC consumer gouging post release

3. system was built to last (my first one STILL works like a charm)

4. tons of quality JRPG's (arguably the "golden age" for this sub-genre.

I am so passionate baout the PS2 and what they did right, that i have it actively hooked up (have alot of JRPG's to work through, after all!) and bought 2 brand new ones before they went off the market so that i could presumably game on this system until i am dead. i do love many of the games of the generation that followed, but i feel like the industry is turning in increasingly diminishing returns as publishers look more to pleasing shareholders with favourable quarterly results. oh well.

well then, thank goodness i am not the only one quizzing this. me and my wife have the game and enjoy it greatly. we especially like being able to take out each others pawns into battle. good that kevin is doing it, as he has earned his trustworthiness with me with his love for RPG's over the years. i do regret that i could not look at hte review before i bought, as i like to do research before dropping money on a new game. hell, i even had to go to *cough* ign to look at a review. it was this or game of thrones, and i think i made the right choice.

boy, i sure would like to play this game. however, my wii apparently cannot read the disc because of some problem reading dual layer discs with old wiis (we got one near launch). my disappointment with this, and my further disappointment with nintendo customer service, who gave me one heck of a runaround unfortunately has really soured my ability to have faith in nintendo, which sucks, cause i have been an active supporter of them since 1986, when i got my NES for christmas. oh well, at least i am glad to hear the game was good and people have been enjoying it.
