If you're sending info you don't want anyone else to see then IM is a bad way to do it. Last I checked MSN didn't send the info anywhere other than to the other client, but like most IM programs the text is sent in plain text providing the possibility that someone on either end of the network could monitor the conversation.

Having said that, seriously what are the chances anyone would bother to intercept your IM conversations and read them?

Hey,

Thanks for responding first of all.

I'm not so worried about others peeping into conversations...

I guess I'm wondering more about whether Yahoo for example, keeps storage of your conversations. Seems pretty crazy that they would strore every single users pm's, right?

Hey guys,

This might seem like a silly question, but I was wondering whether companies like Yahoo/MSN, etc...save information that you send to other "friends" using private messages.

I know that each user has the option of saving his/her own messages but are these private conversations stored somewhere else as well, or are they totally "private lines" so to speak.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
