Well FIFA makes more money (I think?) and this acquisition is proof of that, the competition simply can't keep the licenses so they better catch up with the whales.
But you'd never noticed it during actual gameplay. I think they do restrict it to allow most players to be able to play without a high-end rig and they don't want to see the consoles melting (and want to give players a stable FPS). Things already disappear upon destruction and since BC2 nothing is really destroyed, it just crumbles exactly the same like a LEGO house, it's like a script.
