@angelcrr: You wont hear the sound of the gunshot until after the bullet hits you, the bullet is moving faster than the speed of sound.

No true scotsman fallacy definition:

"The no true scotsman fallacy is a way of reinterpreting evidence in order to prevent the refutation of one’s position. Proposed counter-examples to a theory are dismissed as irrelevant solely because they are counter-examples, but purportedly because they are not what the theory is about.

Example

The No True Scotsman fallacy involves discounting evidence that would refute a proposition, concluding that it hasn’t been falsified when in fact it has.

If Angus, a Glaswegian, who puts sugar on his porridge, is proposed as a counter-example to the claim “No Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge”, the ‘No true Scotsman’ fallacy would run as follows:

(1) Angus puts sugar on his porridge.

(2) No (true) Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge.

Therefore:

(3) Angus is not a (true) Scotsman.

Therefore:

(4) Angus is not a counter-example to the claim that no Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."

Get rekt m ate, go to System Wars or be able to defend your statements. This has nothing to do with the topic and you're attacking others. Enjoy the Fallout series for what it is and stop attacking others when you can't debate.

Cant debate? Talk for yourself, all you have done is throw around the term "no true scottsman fallacy" 3 times now. Woah guys watch out, we got a master debater over here. I responded to someone calling a game they never even played horrid, and gave my reason why I think that's ridiculous and my opinion why I think they are not a true gamer. You can say no true scotsman fallacy 100 more times, it's not going to change my opinion of him.

If anyone is feeling nostalgic and wants to play a Lucasarts or Seirra game message me and I can probably hook you up, I have them all converted to digital and they will run with ScummVM which is a free program.

There's a certain romance about the pen. It can end wars, and create peace. It can also create wars and destroy peace. It's far more sophisticated than a person's first instinct, which is often to grab a gun, it can solidify agreements when cooler heads prevail. It may not be as immediately satisfying as it is to destroy an enemy, but it can be used to solve problems infinitely more conclusively than true conflict could ever hope to achieve.

Except none of us are in a position of power to use the pen to our benefit. I don't carry a pen around everyday to protect myself, I carry a gun, and if an armed intruder breaks into my house, a pen isn't going to save my life, my AR-15 will.

I enjoyed the Sierra games too, actually the first adventure game I ever played was the first Leisure Suit Larry game when I was probably 5 or 6 on the original 8 inch floppy disks. I used to have my dad answer all the questions for me in the beginning to prove I was old enough to play. Looking back, I cant believe he let me play that game when I was that young, but no harm came from it, and I didn't get or understand most of the jokes anyway at that age.

Every few years I try to replay them all, I have every Lucasarts and Sierra adventure game ever made sitting on my external hard drive. Thank god for ScummVM.

@The_Last_Ride: And your point....

you're making a bold claim that no true gamer must have played a game you require, something you can't set as a condition. A gamer is a person who says they game, that's it...

Not even close, your reading comprehension is abysmal. I never made the claim that to be a true gamer you must be required to play this or that game. The claim I made was to judge older games you never played based on their graphics because they are outdated, and rightfully so, and calling that game horrid even when you never played it means you are not a true gamer. True gamers can appreciate older games for what they are despite them being outdated.

Anyone else here a big fan of the old Lucasarts adventure games like Monkey Island, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle etc... I grew up playing them and they are some of my fondest memories. I have only ever met one other person who has played them besides my uncle who was the one who introduced them to me as a kid.
