It is true that you are missing out but with OLED televisions entering the market next year, LCD and Plasma tv prices will drop.jasontakhar

Thanks for telling me this. I browsed the net for info on OLED and was amazed at what I read.

[QUOTE="CosmoKing7717"][QUOTE="AgentZero225"][QUOTE="ivanfred"]

I just bought the 60 Gig PS3 before I could save the money for an HDTV. I have been waiting patiently for Sony to make the PS3 a good value, but now I can't wait anymore. There are 165 PS2 games in my video game library. So, when I read that the 40 gig PS3 would not be backwards compatible and thatPS2 games were not functioning properlyin the 80 gig, I jumped the gun and bought the 60 gig.

Does anyone else have a PS3 connected to an analog tv?

CosmoKing7717

I'm the same way. But you dont need a HDTV for the ps3. But to use the ps3 to the fullest potential thats wat the HDTV is for.

yea...i cant wait to get one next year...ALSO SINCE WERE TALKIN BOUT STUFF LIKE THIS...does anyone know waht the best headphones (for mp3 player) under 50 dollars is...my 6th pair in a year just broke xD (and to relate this...horribly to ps3) it's so i can listen to music while playing :P

anyone? anyone at all *tear tear* i've been searching and cant decide because i get 209809282 different answers

If you are playing at home, then use these. I bought them 3 years ago and they still work.

If you want something less bulky try this one. I also use them and find them to be pretty good.

i think you should save for 1. the ps3 is fine with a sdtv but things are jut very.......blurry but detailed. its hard to say but you can see the pixils on a sdtv and it ruind the game because the outline of mostthings are made up of crooked squares and not lines which you would see on a hd.

start saving a hd was my best investment since the ps3

d_ano

Yeah, you are right.

if you are getting a screen size 40in or lower, you can get 720p, and save alot of money. You can't really tell the difference between 720p and 1080p until you get above 50in.most won't admit it, but it's the truth. Do a side by side comparison if oyu ever get the chance. motherboop

Thanks.

I'm in the same position. I'm just playing on a SDTV.fynne

Are you seeing humbars when playing your PS3? I see very faint bars in shades of grey moving up the screen. Weird. My SDTV is a flatscreen Sony Vega/Wega, whatever.

Thats besides the point, the point is that you are missing out. Now there are alot of sdtv owners out there that do not benifit and get the full amount and power from their ps3s.A hdtv jus adds to the experiance as it gives clearer picture and just a better overall feel and look. You could last with a standard tv, the games still look good...just not their best.

Yeah, you're right. Once I find a good LCD HDTV at the right price, I will be happier than a pig in slop.

A lot of people have SDTVs its not a big deal but there is a huge difference in HD, you should save up for one. I actually have 2, a 50" Sony and a 42" Insignia, both 1080p, the insignia is the best deal I have seen IMO here is the link

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8463076&st=insignia+1080p&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1184767921005

For 1080p in that size its about $700 cheaper than anything else you will see, and even compared to my sony quality is great. It's funny I went to best buy and they didnt have it on display or in stock, but they had a tag so we asked and they sent us to another best buy where we asked about it and they said "I don't think Insignia makes a 1080p tv but I will check" and he brought it out, without even seeing what it looked like on shelves, i am extremely happy I just have to share the deal

thageneral3

I did not expect such a quick response. Thanks everyone.

I was thinking about buying an Insignia LCD HDTV. I have had a similar experience with Best Buy employees. Most of them are not as knowledgeable as advertised.

Isn't the question why not buy a PS3?!

Just get a PS3...........simple as that.....

LittleYoshi

That is what I did. I just bought a 60 gig on 11/04/2007 even though I don't have an HDTV. It works ok on my Sony analog set.

Since the 80 gig doesn't play all PS2 games properly, I bought the 60 gig before it becomes unavailable.

I have 160+ PS2 games. I don't want them to collect dust after I give my PS2 to my niece.
