to me the game always looked like meh. FFX is another overrated piece of crap... TC, you don't even like good JRPGs, so nothing can be discussed here.
And since you know very little about me you just defined your self as a pretentious prick. How do you know about my gaming library I have acquired through the years? You dont! I made one example of one title. I have played every star ocean. every kingdom hearts. Every ff from 6 to 12. xenogears, every chrono game. Most of the sqauresoft golden year games.
Star ocean till the end of time comes pretty close.
I also loved radiata stories.
I have been playing for 40 hours and this game has the most charm and heart I have ever experienced. Characters are not angsty scared emo kids. They are optimistic and real people who you come to love and journey with.
optimisim is sorely missing in many stories in the medium and xenoblade does a great job reminding me anything is possible which its release in america shows that. Its the game proves anything is possible.
And the vast level designs and art direction on the wii is astonishing how they pulled such a feat off no one knows. But i can say this there is no longer a excuse for why a game on the wii including zelda skyward shouldnt have bigger or more dense level designs.
And the soundtrack is sublime I get pumped when I hear you will know our name during a boss.
Best jrpg since FFX imo just my opinion what do others think
I agree to a point but a game like batman arkham city and far cry 3 and even infamous shows open world games done right. Theres very little fetch quests in those games. I liked gta 5 so much cause of its variety. I understand where you are coming from the less time to spend with leisure. But I would hate for games to lower their length and content just cause you dont have time. No offenses and i know it sounds offensive loklNo offense but i think we would all start to hate open world games that pose as pseudo second life experiences that do nothing but suck needless 100 of hours of our precious lives doing stupid fetch quests. One of the major reason i did not get GTAV was basicly that, juggling part time work, a final degree among other endevours i am involved in, i do not have the time to play games with little depth other than fetch quest simulator of what i actually do everyday in real life. While i do appreciate what open world games have accomplished in their technological feat, they have a knack for dragging stupid needless things that do not play into the picture the game is trying to potray, so i am very cautious in approaching open world type games. The ones i enjoyed this gen are Infamous, RDR, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry3, Gravity Rush among others and while i do tend to be critical of the fetch quest medium typical of open world games, i feel they should exist as what they are since they do cater to a large audience of players who want to immerse themselves in that world.
Summary, leave TLOU as it exist and GTA as is, the two have no business talking to each other

I look at a game say like Last of us and think wow man this game would work so much better as open world game. Doing quests like finding supplies and defending base or making forts. Note Last of us is my fav game this gen just using it as example. I think open world games are the most immersive and for most part have better world building and non linear level designs. Most of the best games this gen imo were open world. Gta 5, Far cry 3, batman arkham city.
I noticed with next gen a lot of games are open world and old franchises are changing formula and going open world. MGS 5 and witcher 3.
So what do you guys think is the linear following strict path in games getting old or do you enjoy the narrow road with more focus on a straight journey
