@BeefoTheBold: Don't forget how Nicholas Cage wears a priest outfit while planting a bomb and while leaving the building gropes a young choir girl in said priest outfit in plain view of hundreds of people. Gotta keep that part in the new one.

Original Face/Off is one of the best terrible movies there is. So dumb on every level with two corny ass actors but everyone takes everything so seriously its just perfect. Nicholas Cage is just insane the entire time and then John Travolta spends most of the movie pretending to be as insane as Nicholas Cage. Remake will probably try to be intentionally funny and ruin it with constant self-referential jokes though.

@videogameninja: The market has over and over voted with their wallets and the results are in. Some people can't grasp that the hobby of gaming has grown beyond the subculture it used to be and simply doesn't need their "votes" anymore when there are millions of others with their wallets open.

@lionheartssj1: Yeah they're just listing all of their titles that qualify as "live service" and lumping them together.

@Marky360: Its almost like internet comment sections are hyper specific subsections of the actual market that don't accurately reflect anything. Many "gamers" do hate microtransactions as if they personally killed their families but in reality those people don't even account for 1% of the market.

Yeah thats.... super, super dumb. Games aren't reality and in this case have zero bearing on reality. If a game were to have a child shoot up a school I would question it. What scenario will having white phosphorus as a kill streak lead to?

This game is a perfect case study for what happens when a creative type has too much money, no hard deadlines, nobody to say no, and a following willing to rationalize any failings. Project expands to include everything that sounds cool from celebrity laden single player campaigns to first person shooter modules in a space sim. What they have accomplished is undeniably impressive from a technical angle but it will never form a cohesive product and will forever feel like a middle ground between tech demo and game.

@ccgod: For the longest time people defended having a resource intensive single player campaign added to an already huge project by saying its a different team with its own budget and that it wouldn't hurt the main game. Has that pretext finally been dropped then?

Wow that sure is a moronic explanation. It's especially funny in this case because we know why it failed, numerous Bioware employees have talked about why and it all goes back to shitty management and Frostbite being the wrong engine for this game. Of course they can't admit to what everyone already knows so we get his song and dance.

@killcrit: Sorry but no there is a 0% chance that they intentionally sabotaged their own game. For starters that shit would have been leaked by soooo many people. The developers would be outraged that their management are literally telling them to ruin their own game and it would be a huge story, there's no way that would stay a secret.

Second, there is no "moving away from EA." If anything will happen as a result of Anthem bombing it will be Bioware getting shut down like the numerous other EA studios that were deemed no longer worthwhile. There is no logical reason for Bioware to drag their own name through the mud and piss off their corporate rulers when their reward is their own studio's destruction.

The reasons for the failure have been talked about by numerous Bioware employees anonymously in a Kotaku article. No reason for conspiracy theories.
