Ok, here's the thing. My younger brother bought Pikmin (summer of '03) and thing is since it was such a new type of game for us we didnt know exactly how it should be played. Once we got a hang of the controls, the pacing felt too rushed for us at the times.
For the uninitiated, Pikmin is about a tiny guy named Olimar who's ship crash lands on an alien planet. With his oxygen tank running low, he needs to find 24 crucial ship parts (with 6 extra/not as crucial parts) within 30 days using the help of these small creations named Pikmin that answer to his every beck and call.
For 5 years me and my brother have periodically picked up the game and attempted to vanquish this then-unheard-of task. We felt rushed and scrambled to get these pieces without having our Pikmin die. However, with every try we would get closer and closer, but would always start from the beginning of the game to have the most time possible and not have our Pikmin die (or at least most of them). We were always wary of playing the game again from fear of failure. Days became weeks, weeks became months, months became years of us not touching it from fear our attempts would be failed ones.
So, what happened was, that on Saturday, March 15th, me and my brother were playing in the "Forest of Hope" level of SSBB and listening to the tranquil music, we suddenly got in the mood to play it again...this time...for keeps. we booted up the game at 12:00pm and played until 9:00pm. Not only was it so much fun, we felt like a team, strategizing what our next move should be, or what Pikmin should do what while the others do whatever.
It was so much fun just sitting there, growing Pikmin, ordering them around, all the while spending time with my brother who I've felt I've neglected a little bit in the past few weeks. All in all, the game is amazing and I recommend it to anyone who likes a different type of game (but hopefully it won't take you 5 years to beat like it did us lol).
hello all. Well, I said i would be blogging more often so...here I am again! lol
Well, to get old news out of the way first, I just want to take a second to list a few more songs I 100%'d since the last post:
"My name is Jonas" by Weezer
"Barracuda" by Heart
"Anarchy in the U.K." by The Sex Pistols
"Paranoid" by none other than Black Sabbath
"Slow Down" by Foghat
Now that that's out of the way, I would like to say that I have gotten Super Smash Brothers Brawl (as millions of other Wii owners like me before) and I must say that it is one of the best games to come out since the original game. I have yet to unlocked one more character (Wolf) but I must say that the amount of content in the game is stagereing and slightly overwhelming. But once you start to playing, you might wish that there was even MORE stuff. But the gameply alone is enough to warrant yers of extra gameplay (just like Melee before it). My only gripe with the game is the Subspace Emissary in which although fun, feels like its longer than it should be. Not to mention that the last section of the game felt like they pulled a Megaman/Devil May Cry by making you might every boss and character (except Jigglypuff, Wolf, Toon Link and Sonic) before your allowed to fight the last boss...which is so unbelievably cheap that you'd wonder why his existance was allowed. but aside from this miniscule nitpick, the game is awesome. The content is 100% Nintendo goodness (aside from a certain blue hedgehog) and is made even better with the inclusion of a virtually lag-free online mode. If you have a Wii, or are thinking of getting a Wii, this is the game that will make the Wii worth it all by itself. Much like Melee, SSBB is the type of game that you buy a console to only play only that one game. Buy it now!
Hey guys. I know its been aw while but I'm back with a new (Grammar improved) blog lol. I'll try to make more periodic posts as the days go by. Well, where to begin...
As members on the Wii forums may or may not kow, I am a huge Guitar Hero fan. In fact, I've been shredding since the original. Which is why I am extremely to report that as of today, at 7:45 pm, I have beaten Dragonforce's "Through The Fires And Flame" on EXPERT! After literally 100 or so tries, and 1 nearly flung plastic guitar peripheral (you try not getting mad!), I finally beat it. My score was 297,900 (exactly! lol). My hit percentage was 87%, but I didn't care about all that too much because I finally beat it! It felt like a huge load was taken off my chest. I love Guitar Hero lol. So far in the game, I have beaten about 8 or 9 songs 100% on Expert.. Those songs were:
When We Were Young
Talk Dirty To Me
Sunshine Of Your Love
Metal Heavy Lady
The only problem I have with the game is the fact that it felt like the 2 boss battle songs (with Tom Morello and Slash) as well as The Devil Went Down To Georgia should have been unlockable songs with the game to begin with, but instead are available via DLC. Hopefully, today's interview with GH Lead Developer Alan Flores, it seems like us Wii owners won't get the short end of the stick after all. Which is good because I was about to rant about how they messed up Guitar Hero. lol. Don't I look like a fool. lol. Can't wait for the new stuff. I just hope we get to see Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin in the next Guiatr Hero game. That song alone would make purchasing GH4 worth it, even if all the other songs were crap (well, maybe) lol.
In non-Guitar Hero-related news, I've recently finished the Orange Box (expect a review very soon). I gotta say, this game is amazing and thought provoking. If you have a system (be it pc or console) that can play it, get it now! Not later. NOW! lol
Well, that's it for now. I will continue to post new blogs much more frequently now. Thanks for reading guys!
Oh...and if anyone wants a challenge in Guitar Hero 3...PM me! MUAHAHAHAHA!!! lol
Upon some research that i have done, i've com up with some interesting information. Has anyone noticed that, since 1998, the games released within 3 year intervals have been some of the best games to be released for that specific console/ever, or the ones with the most hype? I mean, think about it for a second:
1998: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time, Half Life, Chrono Cross, Goldeneye 64, Final Fantasy 8
2001: Halo, Super SmashBrothers Melee, Tony Hawk Proskater 3 (the last game to get a perfect 10 on gamespot), GTA 3, Gran Turismo 3, SSX Tricky, ICO, Silent Hill 2
2004: Halo 2, GTA: San Andreas, Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft ('nuff said)
2007: Halo 3, GTA 4, Super SMash Brothers Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots, The return of NiGHTS, Heavenly Sword
