try this, suspend the power supply in the air while you run it... this should cool it and help proformance also try putting fan blowing onto console to cool it. this might help. if rrod is the issue then cooling might stop it from happeningTwisted-Ice-God

It couldn't hurt to try it I suppose, but from what everyone else has said there's no saving it at this point. So far no red lights, but that could and probably will change soon if you guys are correct. Which you probably are...

Oh well. I just hope it doesn't take a month to get back.

[QUOTE="darksusperia"]yep, I started checkerboarding and getting purple overtones etc before hand, reboots would fix momentarily. but then finally RROD.. prob ur gfx card.darksusperia

Well...crap. I honestly didn't expect the problem to be that serious. And I've had the console since launch, so I've counted myself lucky so far. Hum...I haven't been able to get visual since this morning, so I suppose I'll try again later then call up customer support, see what they have to say. Thanks for commenting.

save yourself some time, run through ALL the support suggestions on the website, then call MS. They will then get you to do all the suggested things again, at which point you simply say, youve been on the site, tried all suggestions, they didnt work this is why Im calling you etc.

Yea, I planned on doing that, but it doesn't hurt to hear it again. I've had that sort of experience with customer support before (not MS), and I'll try it, but I'm not holding my breath; I'll probably end up doing it twice, anyway.

Today I was playing Lost Odyssey (which I adore, btw); I arrived at the second section of Ice Canyon only to be greeted by a very strange graphical problem; everything looked shiny. And not the good kind of shiny, the 'Wow, is that ice made of plastic?' kind of shiny. All the colors were washed out, and to some extent, blurred together; I didn't cut the console off immediately, thinking it might be a glitch that comes and goes, but a few minutes later the problem got even worse (I know this is a ridiculous way of explaining it, but it was like taking a .png image and saving it as a .gif; the color loss was drastic) and I started to see lines pop up all over the screen. At that point, I turned off the console and restarted it, thinking that might fix the problem, at least momentarily. However, I could hear the console start up, and once I powered my wireless controller on, could move up and down as if making a selection - the problem being, I couldn't see anything on screen. I then turned my console off again, and made sure the wires were connected properly (yes, reconnected them, too), but when I turned my console on there was no difference.

So I'd like to know, have any of you had this problem? Have any idea what it could be? How it's fixed? I haven't called customer support yet because frankly, I've heard bad things, and if I could find out the problem without resorting to that I'd be delighted.

I've read the manual and searched for answers here on the internet, but the only thing I came across was one instance on yahoo answers where it was suggested the problem might be the video cable. That certainly sounds right, but since I'm not driving thirty miles to buy a new cable today I thought I'd see what others had to say.

Oh, also, no red rings.

Thanks! (Sorry if this seems like a minor/obvious problem to anyone.)
