This to me this is what "Warlock: Master of the Arcane" tried so hard to be, as well as a healthy dollop of "Might & Magic". All three titles now sit happily on my HDD ("HoM&M III" upward). my only issue is with the difficulty as now at my age, and with a heavy workload, I rarely have more than an hour or two to spend on gaming.
Excellent review, but I would agree that marking it down for the visuals while marking up Retro games is to me a tad backhanded. Sure they are different genres, if you can call Retro (Ugly) games a genre, but having played videogames since the early 1980's I've been through all the visual developments, and I'm quite pleased with how this one turned out.

Still not worth the full price being asked by Origin in Australia for me, but when the dust settles and the price inevitably plummets, as with all EA games (almost as fast as Ubisoft, but not quite) I'll pick it up.
I enjoyed the review and look forward to eventually playing., however the final battle in the first game (on the carrier) made me think this was the way forward for Crytek (lazy and on-rails as it was), and I loathed it. As it turns it, it was a foreboding of what was to come.

The [R18+] Rating is still controversial, with one game (forget the title) that might have previously been rated [PG] yet now getting the [R] rating - the guidelines for ratings are still fuzzy and not fully understandable. Here in Qld. we still don't even have it yet, and won't for several months.

Just because we Aussies have it now doesn't preclude games from being still refused classification in the future and I'm sure they still might be. Then again if it's a 'game like "Aliens: Colonial Marines", then a ban might be in order to save us all from faulty products.

Absoltely knew it. Had a bad feeling from the first gameplay videos, then the fact that the PC port would have no DX11 effects nailed the coffin. The season Pass buried it. I thought there was a chance when it was first announced in production, but unfortunately as usual the release does not live up to it's promise.

Play "The Thing" Gearbox, and see what a lonely, deserted outpost horror game should be like. Instead we have "Duke Nukem 2"....

Having played for about 8 hours, I agree with every point in the review, except for perhaps one point in the combat section - it does matter if your posse get too many negative effects from going down, but this is saved by simply auto-resolving until you get the desired result. Very silly way of doing things, and there really is no strategy to it. To call it TBS is false as it really Turn-Based Dice-Roll.

As a cheap Indie title I could have forgiven this, but not as it is released a Triple A title. In fact Triple A seems to just add the rider "disappointment in store", and has done for almost 2 years now.

Rubbish 'game' that should never have made it to release. A true Alpha state construct. I wouldn't have wasted time even reviewing it, and Steam have received so many complaints it has been removed from their store.

While the Developers claim that there is no optimisation for PC (in their offhand comment stating basically "Why would we?"), it is far better than the original. Key-bindings are not set in stone but are re-mappable, and there are custom options such as SSAO and Blur, not always included (just missing AA and Filter). Haven't played enough to really comment on the game itself, but I appreciate the review and thankful that it is not as blindingly biased as some of the earlier ones (9/10 and the like).

Pardo, stop covering for Wilson. We just have to wait for the next IP Wilson messes up, and then you can take the blame again. Pathetic.

His departure might actually positively influence the team. I've read nothing but bad thing s from this guy, and put him in the same league as Bobby Kotick, not something to be proud of when all is said and done in Videogaming History..
