I usually dust my ps3 every couple of months, I also have it well ventilated, i have it lifted up, i have 4 things in the corners so that air can go all around it with two mini fans blowing on it. I have played 6 hours straight on my ps3, and because of the fans, the amount of heat has gone down atleast 40 percent minimum, this set up could posssibly extend the life of your ps3
The steel book is a good reason to get the special edition, but the collectors edition usually has more then just a steel book. If it only had the steelbook, I would pay about 70 bucks. Like someone else said, it would be a good pre order incentive.
The game usually only had about 5,000 people max on at any given time. And that is with zombies and multiplayer. My best guess is no one is playing the game mode your trying to play.
