Pretty sure you could play that game out of an integrated gpuMonsieurX

Could you dumb that down for me? :P I've done the majority of my gaming on consoles.

Hello, I am looking for a laptop for both many years of graduate school and one that can play games like Rogue Legacy. According to the developer's website, the rec'd specs are as follows:

Recommended Specs (Rogue Legacy):

Operating System*: Windows XP/VIsta/7
CPU: 2.0 Ghz
RAM: 2 GB
Video Card: AMD HD 4770 / Nvidia 8800 GTS
Hard Drive Space: 400 MB

*Support Mac OSX, and Linux coming later.
**Windows 8 works for most people, but is not fully supported at the moment.

Again, I'd like to nail two birds with one stone here: get a laptop that can perform well for many years of grad school AND that can play games like Rogue Legacy. My budget is around 1200 bucks. I'm not exactly sure how demanding games like Rogue Legacy are compared to full retail games, so any enlightenment and suggestions would be very welcome!!! Also I've heard terrible things about windows 8, so perhaps Windows 7 would be ideal. I currrently use XP.

I am going to use 2 separate flash drives such that the two sets of files will never be in the same place (just for caution's sake). So I will:

1. Transfer my friend's RL data to flash drive 1.

2. Delete his data from his pc's hard drive.

3. Play on a "new" game awhile ("my" file in the absence of other save data)

4. When he comes I will transfer my data to flash drive 2.

5. Then transfer his files that were sitting in flash drive 1 back to his PC.

6. Then he SHOULD be able to pick up right where HE left off. Hopefully....?

Okay, but this leads to another question--if I started a new file after copying his  would it be possible to transer "my" file onto a pc I buy in the near future with my own copy of Rogue Legacy? In other words, is his Steam identity or whatever attached to his computer and his copy of Rogue Legacy? Could I transfer the file I start on his computer to my own future pc later?

Okay, so I don't have a good pc or laptop... I'm working on that. Anyways, my friend has his pc at my house. I have talked to him about possibly moving his save files onto a flash drive so that I can have my own file. Then, when he wants to play, we just could take my (set of) files (save data), put it onto my flash drive, and then transfer HIS save data from the save flash drive BACK onto his pc.

Tell me, will that work? I don't want to mess up his data. Obviously I will not do anything until I'm 100% certain! Please let me know!!!

Hello everyone. Let me first say that I'm no computer expert and that I am long due for an upgrade--my laptop and regular computer are both more than 7 years old and I have not maintained them as ideally as I could.

That aside, I'm going into my senior year of college and have plans to go to graduate school for 7 or 8 years. I need a new laptop or computer. As my current laptop hasn't held a charge at ALL in years, I am used to having it grounded to a wall.  Still, battery life would be nice. I will list some important things to me in regards to a computer. Also, I have never built a computer, so I'm probably best just buying one from the store. Also, a laptop is probably preferable but I'm not sure. Anyways, I don't have high standards, but I want:

-Decent battery life

-Able to stream movies, etc

-Able to do all the basic stuff for school-related affairs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, etc.)

-Maybe one that can play games (nothing too demanding as I'm a console gamer generally) (but stuff like Rogue Legacy :)

-Will last me several years

-Has an operating system that isn't windows 8 because I've heard terrible things

-Also I'm willing to spend around 800 dollars

So yeah, that's it. I'm hoping that someone can help me. It's amazing how technologically inept I sound haha.
