Eh, I would hardly qualify that as a death threat

Stop giving him the benefit of the doubt. The man openly attempted a coup and tried to have his own vice president murdered. He knows what he is saying. WE ALL KNOW WHAT HE'S SAYING. He's not some dumb child. He means what he says, acknowledge it.

The guy basically accused almost all south americans of being rapists, murderers, and drug dealers. He tried to ban all ingress into our country from muslim nations that didn't pay his son in law money. This is absolutely nothing new, and his supporters will continue to cheer it on.

A reminder that this Friday, September 30th, is the date when Trump's lawyers must reveal to the special master what evidence was "planted" by the FBI at Mar-A-Lago. This should be fun.

So Trump only has a few options:

  1. Admit that he lied. I am not sure what the legal repercussions of that would be in this case. I would love to hear some informed opinions on that
  2. Lie and provide a false list of evidence. Which since the inventory of what he stole is well indexed and detailed with a paper trail, his lies will immediately be made clear. Again, I am not sure what the repercussions of lying here would be

@hansbeej: There's probably a 3rd way, super shaddy and confusing.

Now we know the third way, Judge Aileen Cannon removed the scope of the case that would allow Special Master Dearie to require Trump to back up his statements.

Yep. Crazy how flagrantly this judge is not following the rule of law but here we are.

It's funny how I posted the receipts and one suspect poster went silent while the other I was responding to ignored it.

It's frivolous. No one is forcing anyone to eat at McDonald's. No one can tell a company what advertisers it can use, nor how much it should spend with each advertiser.

It just doesn't make sense from any angle and will be thrown out.

Frivolous lawsuits can still cost a company millions of dollars, which is a leading reason why so many settle out of court which often ends up being cheaper than paying lawyers for a long, drawn out lawsuit. This makes corporations, and people with money prime targets for extortion, threatening frivolous lawsuits, to receive settlements. It's all too common.

There's a way to stop that. Make the plaintiff pay for costs when it's found to be frivolous.

Yes - there's many instances in us courts where the party bringing dumb lawsuits ends up having to pay the other side's legal fees. Happens all of the time.

That's a very narrow read and you are wrong. Stop being so close minded and selfish.

No it's just the Dictionary definition and how it's defined by law.

a·sy·lum seek·er/əˈsīləm sēːkər/Learn to pronouncenoun

  1. a person who has left their home country as a political refugee and is seeking asylum in another.

I know leftist like to argue against definitions now but this is getting tiresome.

I don't know why you're bothering with copying and pasting from a dictionary: we already know that these people were asylum seekers and that they were granted asylum. So therefore whatever narrow definition of an asylum seeker is in your head is very and obviously clearly incorrect.

Just accept reality. I don't understand how conservatives are capable of simply rejecting the reality in front of their eyes. It's so bizarre.

Coming from someone who is literally rejecting reality. Coming across a border for better financial opportunity does not make you an Asylum seeker.

But again I'm talking to someone that thinks gender is a spectrum and can be chosen at will so this is a waste of time.

Dude, you can google this. It would take you all of ten minutes of searching and reading. Venezuelans in-country were granted temporary protected status back in January of 2021, and it was later extended this year. Here's just one of the memorandums you can read were you inclined to actually seek the truth:

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/01/25/2021-01718/deferred-enforced-departure-for-certain-venezuelans

Here's another:

https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/03/09/2021-04951/designation-of-venezuela-for-temporary-protected-status-and-implementation-of-employment

I could go on, there are more memorandums and executive orders regarding Venezuelans being granted asylum as they fled Nicolas Maduro's brutal regime. Or I could point to the actual cases being handled by pro bono lawyers right now proving that some were granted humanitarian parole. Or here's an article explaining the situation in Venezuela in case you live under a rock or only get your information from Fox News or annoying grifters on YouTube:

https://www.hrw.org/news/2021/03/09/us-temporary-protection-venezuelans

So again, just accept reality. I set you on the path, you can look the rest up yourself, so please stop calling these people illegals. If they were from like Croatia or Slovenia or someplace we all know you would not care and would be championing their right to be here. You're not fooling anyone.

Well things went off course quickly.

Basically the point is: this is good. Both sides can actually agree here for a number of reasons. While it's tempting to look to the future or think about this situation more esoterically, at the end of the day the pandemic forced us to look more into domestic manufacturing and I think that's wonderful.

It was probably Russia, but may have been Ukraine given they are being invaded by Russia right now. In the end who cares - Russia chose their path and cut themselves off from the rest of the world. If all of their infrastructure fails then oh well, tiny violin gif.

An interesting article discussing how factory jobs managed to boom after the worst of the pandemic was over, spanning both the final months of the Trump administration and all throughout the two years and some change of the Biden administration.

Good stuff I think every American can be happy about and get behind.
