I'm almost sure the game does explain this, or at least makes you learn it unconsciously. However, once you have a pre-conceived notion of something, it's very hard to change it consciously, and even harder unconsciously. So, I guess the reviewer could've easily rushed through the tutorial and didn't realize how the game should be played.

Well I just got my edition now with the remote so I guess I will just have to try it out and see :D

[QUOTE="thesnowdog2005"]Okay, so the reviewer has realised that he messed up with the controls as we can see from the Editors Note. So when are they going to adjust the score accordingly..?Minishdriveby

Well there are one of three possibilities.... Either

A) He was playing the game right, but just didn't know it wasn't IR, so the score shouldn't be corrected.

B) He was playing the game wrong, so the score should be corrected.

C) He was playing the game wrong, but they won't go back and correct the score. That will show incompetence on their part especially after they flaunted the score over twitter.

A and B are the same? If he didn't know it wasn't IR he wasn't playing the game correctly. Regardless of whether he knew or new about it. This isn't manslaughter vs murder. I think they should just remove the review and not put any score for Zelda

[QUOTE="hannify"]

I still don't get how his lack of knowledge would affect his gameplay though unless he didn't calibrate it properly by putting it head down on a flat table?

scampjot

Instead of moving the controller relatively to the position Link was pointing at, he was always trying to aim to the screen and so, adding that to the waggling he admitted to do, he had the need to recalibrate the controller every minute. Now multiply this for 17 hours (half of the game?) and you get "bad controls" and a 7.5.

Ah I see, so basically he didn't realise motionplus had a bigger role to play in the first person aiming that he thought. Ok fair enough. I can imagine that would be quite annoying and at the same time perhaps the game should have told you this. Bit dissapointing that it got such a low score based on a bad experience of the controls I guess.

Perhaps the game should be removed as not reviewed instead? I think as a gamer we should all be hoping the best for Nintendo - after all, games are all they do. They don't have other things to fall back on if Gaming falls through - thats the end of Nintendo - the last true gaming heirs.

Though I assumed it was both being tracked together? Rather than motionplus itself being the main calibrator.

[QUOTE="penpusher"]I got skyward sword today (day early), is there any problem with my playing it today or would nintendo do something to my console?BrunoBRS
Lol go ahead, they won't do anything. So tom finally admits he played through the whole game wrong, thus crippling the experience beyond repair, but he won't re-review it. Takes too much time. Plus, the gamespot's PR department is doing the only logical thing they could do, cash in the review as much as possible. I don't blame them, their job is to generate fuss to get hits. I do, however, blame the chief editor and, most importantly, whoever is in charge of hiring and firing, for keeping mcshea around for so long, despite the fact that he has been hurting the image of the site and is almost unanimously hated by its own community for so long. McShea's bad reviews might give hits on the short run, but in the long run it cripples the site and discredit his fellow reviewers.

How did tom play it??? Where did it say he played it wrong? Review should be removed then!

I now know why I never bothered contributing on these forums. They are RUBBISH. I can't edit my own posts? What the hell is that about.

Just pay a company to use a good one and then throw these piece of junk in the recycle bin (on your computer).

Edit: Ok, I can't edit my post in Xenoblade forums anyway...

Gamespots video system is completely useless. Its gotten worse recently and today I can't even enjoy the show properly. The download ability is even worse even when I am forcing so many connections to it - I hardly get a decent speed at all.

No idea who has decided to make Gamespots video go so downhill but I am bored of it and would like Gamespot to actually make some haste, forget about new designs, forget about trying to tell Gamespot users to simply 'get over it' when any constructive criticism is given and just do some FIXING and OPTIMISING.

Thank you.

Still very bad. Perhaps contact BBC? Their CPU efficiency is by far the best of every website I have gone on for the quality.
