Part of me wonders how much of his thoughts are coming from an artistic standpoint, and how much is from bitterness that the Marvel movies make an insane amount of money. He wasn't happy that Dune is launching both in theaters and streaming simultaneously--that's probably going to cut into the film's profits, and I imagine that he has/had some sort of deal where he gets a cut of the box office take. You can be a highbrow, auteur filmmaker all day every day, but it's gotta be a thorn in your side when your upcoming sci-fi epic may not make as much money as an MCU film.

@systemoverload: Not too weird-- the conglomerate that owns HBO Max--WarnerMedia--also owns DC Comics.

@CyberEarth: I think it's because the DC Universe app is eventually either going to just stick with comics only or is shutting down altogether. Ever since AT&T bought WarnerMedia, they've been in the red, and are looking for ways to stop bleeding money. The DC Universe app probably isn't making the money they hoped for on its own, so their best bet is moving everything to the service that has more subscribers, and either change or pull the plug on the one that isn't doing as well.

This revival has me wondering who this series is made for, and who is going to be the creative force behind it. John K. was fired from the original run due to his fights with network execs over content and his habit of delivering episodes late. The episodes without his involvement were considered sub-par by fans. And the last attempt resulted in John K. making the horrible Adult Party Cartoon, so it's doubtful if he's coming back anytime soon. There's not even any word if Billy West will be involved with this new show.

Out of the announced revivals at Comedy Central so far, I think this will be the first one to get the ax.

EDIT: According to an article from Variety, John K. will have no creative involvement, and will not get any sort of financial revenue from the show.

It won't have microtransactions...

Instead, it'll have "enhanced play elements".

Wouldn't put it past Activision to give it some sort of new euphemism.

@rekonym: I don't think there is going to be a continuation of Justice League after this--at least, not a version with Snyder involved. It wound up being one of the most expensive movies ever made (about $300 million), and only made $657 million worldwide after everything was said and done--the film was a bomb, and lost the studio money. And given the success of Wonder Woman and most of their movies since Justice League, I don't see the studio going back to making a brand new movie with Snyder at the helm or his influence behind it.

@kstaggs87: I think Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and even Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. are done with this particular vision of the DC movie universe after this. Given the success of most of their movies post Justice League, I don't see them going back to Snyder's vision on a permanent basis anytime soon.

I think that there's going to be some fans who think that this will magically course-correct everything that came before this. I'll check it out more as a curiosity than anything else, but I got a feeling that the drama in getting this out will remain more interesting than the final product ever will.

Why is this even still a thing? Somehow, I don't think the studio is going to cough up the money to edit the movie to what his original vision was to be--probably cost more than what it would make back in profits. Besides, it's not as if this will magically erase all the movies that he did prior to this.

Gotta love how Bethesda has the unmitigated gall to keep this mess going and bleed dry the fanbase that's left.
