So we're trying to minimize CPU usage; a resource that is not in demand on the computer, while at the same time pushing the world back to card or brand dependent graphics APIs. Awesome. Why would anyone think we need a competitor to DirectX or OpenGL that no other major company besides AMD will ever support...
@ESB This article specifically deals with how this developer would use cloud servers to enhance a multiplayer game. Did you read it or are you just jumping to XBox articles and spouting nonsense?
If Microsoft's servers are down, you're obviously not going to be playing games on Xbox-live.
This is substantially different than a single player game like Sim City requiring an internet connection. If you're actually interested in what the article is talking about go read up on elastic computing.
@inthebag84 @JumpyLuweegee I tended to agree with Gamespot's decision to reserve the perfect and extremely high scores for games that really, really deserve it. This doesn't mean games that scored a 7 or 8 won't be fun, read the negatives and see if what Gamespot is saying even applies to what you want in a game before you make a decision. What it does mean is that when a game hits a 9.5 you know its going to be pretty game good.
