Hmm, well GH2 has much better notecharts and a better setlist (that's just my opinion though). GH3 has online mode, but other than that it doesn't really improve. Except maybe that it's much easier to do Hammer On's and Pull Off's in 3 than it was in 2.
Personally, I'm sick and tired of FPS's, especially the military kind. That could have something to do with it. As for the other games, they just seem to be "meh".
If you can manage to maintain the interest and devoting a lot of time to the guitar, it can be a sound investment. You won't be able to play some Blind Guaridan songs for a long, long, LONG time though ;). Unless of course you're a natural.
