@Daelusca: Its all opinion isn't an excuse, its what it is. You calling it a "below average game" is your opinion, not a fact. You seem to be upset by that but that is how the world works.
These "fools" are ranking their favorite games in a list. That's it. You can find a website where they have the same opinions that you do and rank The Last Guardian lower. I'm sure it exists, somewhere if that makes you feel better.
@alexandreusss: They don't "train" themselves to view games differently than others. A game critic is supposed to give their specific audience an opinion. Nothing more. That's why the same game can have vastly different scores across multiple sites.
I'm not saying you can't trust game critics. You can, especially if you find ones whose taste aligns with yours. If that's the case, you can definitely approach a title with caution if they review it poorly.
@Joecarole: The industry has never been stronger. Seems to me you missed the myriad of great single player games that came out this year and the strong ones on the horizon for 2017.
Yet the entire industry is swirling down the drain because an amazing game that happens to be multiplayer only is winning award after award. Despite just last year a strong single player RPG won all of those awards.
@hoard_moard: Overwatch can be played so many different ways. Not to mention the constant updates and challenges, tons of unlocks, it most definitely does not lack in content.
I played and beat Uncharted 4. Good game. Great game, even. But I haven't touched it since. Overwatch keeps me coming back over and over again.
@Daelusca: It's all opinion. I haven't played The Last Guardian but it seems like a decent enough game. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were decent games. Some gamers hold them on pedestals higher than others and thats fine.
We've been waiting for The Last Guardian for a long time. You can either hate it or love it or kinda like it. That's what an opinion means. I don't know what you're trying to get at with the whole "most objective gamers would hate the last guardian" phrase.
@Tomcat2007: Your first problem is assuming a MP shooter is brainless just because it doesn't have a single player story mode attached to it. Overwatch has proved time and again it is not just a "brainless multiplayer shooter." If you think it's brainless, that means anyone can pick it up and dominate and that is not the case.
Every character can be countered and every team dynamic can be challenged. This is not a game where one good player can carry the team. If the team is not working together, they will fail.
The Witcher 3 sold amazingly well. So did Fallout 4. So did a myriad of other single player story games. Mass Effect Andromeda is right on the horizon. Resident Evil VII. Horizon Zero Dawn. Strong single player narrative games. Firewatch has been nominated for damn near every catagory I've seen.
There is a huge market for single player games AND multiplayer shooters. You can have both.
